Book Description

October 1, 1986
Now, at a turning point in her life, comes her  most revealing and exciting book yet. Outspoken,  controversial, talented, and perceptive Shirley  MacLaine now takes us on an intimate and fascinating  personal odyssey. In 1984 she won an Oscar, starred  on Broadway, wrote the best-selling Out on  a Limb -- and turned fifty years old. At  this special time, in this special year, she was  now ready to resume the spiritual journey she had  begun in her early forties. In Dancing in  the Light, Shirley MacLaine bares her  innermost self and explores the lives, both past and  present, which touched and affected her own. She  sheds new light on her loves, her losses, her  childhood, her passions, and her inner drives and  ambitions. She asks poignant questions and finds  surprising answers. She asks poignant questions and  finds surprising answers. She challenges her beliefs  and confronts her conflicts. Ultimately, she takes  us with her through a life-altering experience  that provides a stunning new vision of herself, her  future... and the fate of our world.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

After Out on a Limb , MacLaine now offers more of her family background, with reproductions of parental game-playing conversations which must evoke poignant recognitions in children of conflicting adults. Aided by spirit-guided acupuncture, she has been recovering past-life experiences enabling her to deal with this pain. Most moving is her meeting with her Higher Self, which continues to guide her. Another colorful love affair in Paris and Hollywood provides food for the gossip-column fans. More serious are her ruminations on creative artistry, first as a dancer, then as a movie star. Even readers put off by MacLaine's uncritical and wholehearted embrace of reincarnation will have to applaud her candor and zest for discovering the meaning of her life. Jeanne S. 5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderfully intimate and candid book!, October 17, 1998
This review is from: Dancing in the Light (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. Shirley MacLaine reveals her spiritual journey. She examines her relationship with her parents and lover. She delves heavily into reincarnation and gets help from her spirit guides. The book is very well written. Her exploration leads to Santa Fe where she has a life altering experience. I found myself laughing and crying within while reading this book. It's one of my most cherished books in my large collection. If you found yourself reading this far, maybe you really should buy the book.

By A Customer
This review is from: Dancing in the Light (Paperback)
"Dancing In the Light," in my opinion, is Shirley MacLaine's best book. She builds upon the success of "Out On A Limb," and treats us to her spiritual odyssey, info. on how her spirit guides helped her, her relationship with her parents and lover, and kids. Truly this is her best work. Bottom line? Buy it now!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A trip into the light fantastic, May 19, 2009

Every one of Shirley MacLaine's books is inspirational and this is no exception! The author is obviously an old soul who has had the blessing of coming to a deep understanding of the nature of the one spirit that unites us all. Once I had read this book, I resonated with renewed energy. You will too if you have an open mind.

In the book, the author continues her amazing life journey into discovering the possibility of her own past lives and how they may have impacted upon her current life experience following a traumatic event within her life. The book culminates in her having a profound spiritual experience where her spirit leaves her body, connected by a silver cord.

This book led me to begin my own journey into discovering past lives as well as to begin my journey into recovery from multiple addictions. From there I went on to realize some incredible spiritual experiences. This book was life altering for me!

As the author of a spiritually-themed book entitled "The Misadventures of Sister Mary Olga Fortitude," I am always on the outlook for books that provide food for my soul. I am a seeker of light and truth. If you are as well, this is the book for you!
