3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of his best albums, but good
I have almost all of Chris Spheeris albums & I do not LOVE them all.

This one is not one of his best, although he has some tracks (the first 3)
that are real good, the rest of the CD is slow & not my kind of music.

I really bought it for the different 'face' of the album, without realizing
I already had this CD with him pictured...

I listen to A LOT of music. I purchase hundreds of dollars in CDs every month. This CD has got to rank among my best finds .... ever. I love new and exciting music that elicits an emotional response. Chris Spheeris effortlessly falls into this category. He amazingly combines multiple musical forms and numerous cultural sounds into a seamless creation of pure enchantment that grooves to strong and eclectic rhythms. Invisible Hands, the last track on the CD is so moving, you can almost visualize an all-powerful being creating the universe. A definite must for anyone who enjoys world music, new age or mood music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Album, February 12, 2003
This review is from: Dancing With the Muse (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Chris Spheeris for a decade and own all of his music. This album is incredible as with all of his previous works--it is rich, multi-layered, and vibrant music. Chris keeps his wonderful Greek heritage and adds a level of Middle Eastern influences to his music that uplifts the soul. I highly recommend this album along with all of his previous albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hypnotic, Powerful, Sensual, May 8, 2000
This review is from: Dancing With the Muse (Audio CD)
This music is the most amazing that I have heard. It is powerful and hypnotic. It is sensual and erotic. It takes you away from your worries and stress. If I am upset, tired or overworked, I listen to this. It makes me feel beautiful and energized, yet calm and relaxed. It is a wonderful journey throughout the world. I would recommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars By far my favorite "new age" CD, March 7, 2006

I am in love with this CD. The recording quality is superlative, the musicality and creativity are top notch... can't express how much I love this one. Even those who aren't into "new age" could find things to appreciate about this CD.

The second song, "Dancing with the Muse" is my favorite. Incredible stuff.

Don't walk to buy it, run.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dancing with the inspiration!, October 4, 2005
This review is from: Dancing With the Muse (Audio CD)
It results very difficult and many times useless to pretend entitle to Spheeris as New Age musician. In particular I disagree with this appreciation. Chris revives with a great doses of musicality, instrumentation and careful brightness the hidden melodies of the Arabian and Spanish cultures, going always toward the roots.

In this case Arabian rhythms are renovated with elegance and innovativeness. But a warning must be done: where do the Arabian moods finish and in the meantime the Spanish music reborn? Spheeris knew blend both rhythms with extraordinary easiness, fruit of his admirable talent. Dancing with the muse is the happy melting of these two cultures joined by a history of seven centuries.

Magaya is to my mind the perfect sample about how you can mold and recreate with astonishing presence the millenary Arabian dances employing an evident resources economy.

You will be pleasantly surprised, listening this curious work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense, varied and always interesting, November 29, 2002
This review is from: Dancing With the Muse (Audio CD)
Each time I try to define or categorize this recording, I find that I can't. It's a true original! Spheeris is a guitarist, keyboardist and composer who seems to cross stylistic boundaries and cultural borders as easily as most people surf through channels on a TV. Part New Age, part world fusion, with a touch of Latin guitaristry, these compositions incorporate a full range of sounds both electronic and acoustic. Percussive and dreamily mysterious textures are enhanced by vocals and chants from India, Greece, Spain and the Middle East. On this recording, Spheeris is joined by sample programmer Robert Cory, a host of percussionists, and wind and string players. Come along with them on a fascinating yet relaxing journey! Spheeris's earlier work, from the mid-eighties through mid-nineties, can be heard on the compilation album "Desires", as well as on numerous original releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Magical Trip Into My Soul - My Psyche, July 29, 2001
By
Selini (New York, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dancing With the Muse (Audio CD)
This CD has to be one of the most beautiful, etherial, and exquisitely spiritual pieces of music I have ever heard. I love new age music as it is part of the belief sytem I adhere to. However, this CD amazingly opens the door to my soul and takes me into another world. A world of a deeper realm of reality - just magnificent.

However, I must correct or add to the review that was initially given at the beginning by Paige La Grone. I don't know who this person is but I would like to inform them that there is much GREEK SOUL as the foundation and backdrop of this CD. You would have to be familiar with Greek Music, the Greek Spirit and the Greek Soul in order to hear it, feel it and ultimately become a part of it. But how you could miss it when it is so obvious, is beyond me.

Cannot stop playing it over and over - - Simply, exquisite music for the soul.
