As an aspie myself, I was pleasantly surprised to find a book written by a non-aspie who seems to understand, accept and appreciate us as we are. That is what we need more than anything, besides learning to understand, accept appreciate ourselves. Tap Dancing in the Night gives opportunity for both - especially for those who are new to the autism spectrum and need an introduction to what it really means to be an "aspie."

But even those of us who already know ourselves very well and have researched the subject thoroughly, may get some valuable insights and smiles of recognition from reading the heart-warming poems and first-hand stories by other autistics. These also illustrate and give depth to the useful List of Characteristics (put together by autistics and parents of autistic children) which is included in this book.

I also liked the he colorful format and playful illustrations and found this book-on-DC unusually easy to read. Just as was Martha Kate's intention, it contains enough info to enlighten without overwhelming, and is written in a language anyone can understand. Perfect for both children and parents.

And most important of all; written with such love and compassion. The poem about the Aspie in the Lunchroom was so touching i got tears in my eyes. Not many things have that effect on me.

I warmly recommend this CD-book to anyone interested in getting more of an inside perspective and positive view on autism & Asperger Syndrome.
