3.0 out of 5 stars Strange but I *think* true
This is a strange book. First of all, it takes word for word most of the ideas that you can also find in her BEHAVING AS THOUGH THE GOD IN ALL LIFE MATTERED, and her MAP book of co-creative healing. But it is much longer, and draws out more completely the ideas that you find in the others. I will not give this book five stars because it is just not concise or as well...

If you have ever wondered what life is really all about, this book will move you through your ring-pass-not (the limiting edge of your reality). It's true, what she says about integrating the fantastic into the mundane in your life, and that all the things you do in your mundane life lay the groundwork/foundation for all the fantastic coming in and expanding your reality. When I first bought this book, I wasn't ready to read it, so gave it to the local library.. now I went out and got it again... wow... for all you folks who meditate, who do all sorts of stuff to create your own reality, who would love help with making your dreams come true, here is the missing link..I tell ya, once you get into MSW's work, the magic of co-creating with Nature comes alive in your life. This stuff works.. and this book, crazy reading as it may seem at times, is full of aha's that I have long suspected to be true and it's so wonderful to have them validated by someone just as crazy as me. Maybe we are the new norm. Take a chance, read this book, and check out her other one too (Behaving as if the god in all life mattered..also MAP for health) that one may be easier to start....Go for it, go for the chance and the instructions on how to change your life for the better.. and hang onto your hat! You are in for the ride of your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars TEN STARS!!!!--Fabulous interdimensional roadmap., June 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dancing in the Shadows of the Moon (Hardcover)
"Dancing" is one of the important books that I call "bibles," in that it instructs, illuminates, & provokes endless inner exploration. It sets a flexible, open ended template and validates in a completely unique way, questions about evolution of consciousness and the integration of this experience with "ordinary reality". It is provcative, awesome and a great read that one can enjoy on several levels. MSW, in all her work, is completely authentic, original, without any of the trite tripe and formulaic garbage that abounds in much of the "cutting edge" literature. She truly IS a co-creative scientist (see that book of hers) and demonstrates with grounded, usable instruction how to move forward (expand) in your life in a way that is truly evolutionary and revolutionary, as well as functionable and usable. She also has a great sense of humor and a perspective on herself and life that keeps the work from becoming precious, elitist, or downright obnoxious. For those either curious about multidimensional existence or in need of input about possibilities, or are shaking from lack of validation or context,"Dancing" is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the most challenging book you'll ever love, August 15, 2000
By
This review is from: Dancing in the Shadows of the Moon (Hardcover)
In the past 6 years, I have worked my way through every one of MSW's books and papers, rereading often. I am currently on my 4th read of "Dancing...", still stopping to think and assimilate things that never sunk in before. While I wholeheartedly recommend this book, I also suggest the reader not make it their first read of MSW's work (or even their second), for this is about the most heady stuff you're likely to read, shy of quantum physics (and I've read both). An excellent precursor would be her first book "Behaving...". Once you are up to the challenge, and fortune has brought this author or this book to your door, you are in for a fantastic journey. An accomplished writer and reader, MSW writes with enourmous sympathy for the minds and hearts of people trying to assimilate new information. She recommends stopping when you feel too full, and in an emergency resorting to chocolate. MSW makes the journey fun, funny, warm and entirely worthwhile. My advise to the reader, if you get lost in the first few sections, is to do your best and work your way through to the story. Through her own life's experiences, MSW uses utter simplicity in communicating a massive experience, by breaking it up into it's little daily lessons, the same way she got it. This work is often playful and makes fun of itself. But, make no mistake! There is no apology herein. MSW takes off in this work, dancing with the reader through realms that simply don't fit into existing logical frameworks, and she never looks back. Neither did I. I am proud to admit that I, too, am now happily "Dancing in the Shadows of the Moon".

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius or Lunatic?, July 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dancing in the Shadows of the Moon (Hardcover)
This is an amazing book - the best way I've been able to describe it to my friends who spend less time thinking about this stuff than I do is to say, "she's either really onto something, or needs to be seriously medicated" ;-)

Of interest to anyone who has ever considered that there might be intelligence in nature or a larger organizing principle to the universe beyond tax codes, this book is a personal spirtual journey that involves both the nature spirits and Dwight D. Eisenhower in the afterlife (Yeah, that one).

Unlikely, realistic, grounded and visionary this is a book for avid gardeners who want to know more about what goes on behind the scenes, those like myself prefer to do their gardening in other domains than dirt and anyone who loves a story that's both funny and challenging at the deepest levels.

4.0 out of 5 stars It opened me right up!, August 27, 2004

This review is from: Dancing in the Shadows of the Moon (Hardcover)
I first read Machaelle Small Wright's book while on retreat in a secluded pine forest in Colorado. It was as though the universe (or whoever) conspired to get me into that still small space to absorb the information coming my way.

Machaelle (if I may be informal) uses a writing style that is unpretentious and blatantly autobiographical. What I grew to like about the book is that it does not try to use pseudo science or overblown new age sentiment to make its case. Machaelle makes her case by simply writing about her experience.

She describes her experience of being called into relationship by Nature (capital N) and the energies that govern and hold form and matter in her garden in Perelandra. She then goes on to describe Nature's invitation to her to bilocate--be fully engaged in another dimension while being fully engaged in this one.

I have to say that this book really opened me up to the possibilities of parallel realities and the risks one takes in making this journey. Not only are there emotional, psychological and psychic risks to take, but there are physical ones as well. The physical body must adjust to its transformation as it is infused with a different quality of energy than we're used to. She addresses this as well.

The last half of the book details her experience of going back and forth between dimensions using a journal/diary format, a format I've never really enjoyed. This is why I've given the book four stars rather than five.

All in all, I would urge anyone who wants an honest companion for the journey to explore this book. I'm enjoying some of her other works right now--I'm glad I made the initial connection with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nature 101 on "How to Make Your Life Better", February 18, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dancing in the Shadows of the Moon (Hardcover)
This is the first book I read by the author. It's a real stretch for many but a pure delight to read. Her MAP White Brotherhood book and Flower Essences book are treasures in healing body, mind and spirit. Follow her into the Perelandra garden and discover that our lives are gardens. Whether it be a house, car, business, project and on ad infinitum, it qualifies as a garden as far as nature is concerned. And the ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS thing about it is that we can work with nature to make any area better! Folks! There's a whole world out there waiting for you to tap into it and all you have to be able to do is want to. The deck is stacked in your favor! The Universe wants you to succeed! IT WILL HELP YOUR DO IT RIGHT! This is truly an investment in yourself! And it's so easy.

Can you tell I'm a fan? I've used the MAP healing with the flower essences and the gardening techniques in my garden and in my home. I have started the Microbial work. Wherever you start, the results will be better balance for you.

The cover is right! I couldn't put it down. MSW is a great storyteller with a truly brave sense of adventure, a wry/silly/subversive sense of humor and a deep spiritual sensitivity - Infinite thumbs ups. Ditto for "Behaving..."

5.0 out of 5 stars It will change your life, February 8, 2007
This review is from: Dancing in the Shadows of the Moon (Hardcover)
This book changed my life when I read it a few years ago. I am now re-reading it and getting more layers of meaning and comprehension. As all of Machaelle Small Wright books, it brings a much wider perspective of the universe we live in and what is possible in life. It's absolutely inspiring. On top of all of this, Machaelle writes in an easy style, using a direct and honest tone. The book flows fast, though you might want to re-read some parts just to grasp the incredible amount of information given. It's hard to put down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange but I *think* true, February 18, 2012

This is a strange book. First of all, it takes word for word most of the ideas that you can also find in her BEHAVING AS THOUGH THE GOD IN ALL LIFE MATTERED, and her MAP book of co-creative healing. But it is much longer, and draws out more completely the ideas that you find in the others. I will not give this book five stars because it is just not concise or as well written as the others. Furthermore, I call it "strange" because much of the second half contains Machaelle's journal writings, including graphic details of her physical and body adjustments, from cranium to uterus! Some would call that "too much information" but I think it helps to understand the MAP system to see how one individual experiences her own physical evolution.

On the other hand, it is sometimes hard to believe. We have *true* scenes with Machaelle, who has two other bodies, having dinner and sharing flower essences with individuals such as Dwight Eisenhower and Charles deGaulle and an angel named Hyperithon in a Pentagon-modelled institution called the Cottage. It is not difficult to see that she understands this place exists as "real" but on another dimension simultaneous with our own. That is all that I will say ,except that this book calls for the reader to suspend everything that he or she knows as "true" or "real" in order to get at the meaning of this remarkable life. Not to be taken lightly, but not too seriously - it truly boggles the mind.
