5.0 out of 5 stars Great game!
We bought this game for our kids for Christmas and I am the one playing it. The kids play too, but i am hooked on it already. 3.0 out of 5 stars not what I expected
I wasn't really sure what to expect from the game, but I watch the show and I am a big fan, so I thought it might be fun. It is a little harder than I expected and most of it is done with the remotes and arrows in the direction you are supposed to move. I thought maybe the dance pad would be a part of how to play and also you are so focused on the arrows, you can't even...

There is no dancing like dance dance revolution or anything like that, but it's still fun. You use your arms mostly and follow the arrows. there are some little dances you do, but nothing big and nothing that is going to teach anyone to dance or get exercise from. I played it a lot yesterday and my arms are feeling it a little today. The judges give their thoughts about how well you did and they also score you just like on the show. It's a fun game and i'd recommend it.

Fun for the whole family, accessbible and challenging. The soundtrack is the best! Multiplayer is also fun! My only gripe is that we didn't have an option to use the dance pad. That would've made it perfect. But a great rhythm game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dancing with the Couch Potatoes!, November 24, 2007

I rec'd this game yesterday from my boyfriend because he knows I love working out to Dance, Dance Revolution on the X-box. I was really hoping the Dancing With The Stars game would come with a dance pad so I could pretend to really dance, but alas, it does not. Mostly, you are working your hand-eye coordination, and I highly doubt you can lose as many calories as on the X-Box dance pad, but all in all, a VERY enjoyable game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Its a good game, silly and fun., January 31, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dancing With The Stars (Video Game)
I've never seen the show, so I didn't really know what to expect when I played this. But my friend said it was kind of fun, so after playing it at her house, I got it as a gift.
First of all, I'd like to point out that many people on here are upset because they get the game home only to find out its not actual dancing and it's not compatible with the dance pad. Well of course it's not, it says on the back of the box it uses the wiimote and the nunchuck.
Here is how the game play works..it has a feel of guitar hero as in, theres a spot that is your action and you do the move as it scrolls across into this area. You basically move the wiimote or nunchuck, up down left or right, when it hits the center on beat. Or you have special moves you do like the twist, mash potato, wave, macaranas, stir it up, locomotion, etc. As you play each couple dances 4 songs, and then you unlock other couples. The judges judge you, on amature you need 20 points to move to the next level, and on professional you need 24 points to move to the next level.
Its fun, its not dancing at all. But its fun and silly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Buyers remorse...., January 19, 2008
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dancing With The Stars (Video Game)
I am new to the whole game system world.. but I know fun when I see it... or in this case, play it. I love my Wii...but I am having serious buyers remorse after buying Dancing with the Stars. I was looking for a way to have fun and learn the Mambo, samba etc... The most you do on this game is move your hands up and down or back and forth. The rest of the time it is hand eye coordination only... I am already over this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars great gift for 9 year old girl, June 2, 2008

This game was a birthday gift for a 9 year old girl and she has loved it. The complexity of the moves is just right for her Wii skills--she can move up levels consistently so it's not too easy and not too hard for her game playing abilities. The moves required by the game are mainly arms, but she really gets into it dancing around the living room. It doesn't seem like a game an older child or adult would enjoy as much.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great fun - Bad graphics, May 22, 2008

We got a Wii not long ago and my mom wanted something she would enjoy playing. We are also fans of the show, so it was nearly inevitable that we would buy this. While the lack of a dance-pad is disappointing, the hand-eye coordination can get really tricky as you progress. It is surprisingly easy to unlock all the couples, which I have a complaint in that there aren't enough to play. You can choose whether you want to be the guy or girl dancer and they each have different step sequences. I haven't tried Pro level yet, so maybe that will be enough of a challenge to satiate me.

The faults in this game are the poor graphics and renderings of the judges and dancers. They look NOTHING like the real individuals! Bruno should sue, as they made him look like a over-tanned goblin with saggy skin. I can't believe they accepted that design. Ashley DeGrosso and Maxsim so far look the best, everyone else is hardly recognizable.
The load time to listen to the judge's comments and scores is frustratingly slow (I always skip) and their commentary is very, very limited. The dancer move about the flow with all the grace of a posable Barbie doll, with elbows that apparently are locked in a bent position. The twinkly outfits, however, look great and downright real at some moments. This is why the developers probably put so much emphasis on your hand-eye coordination so you won't have time to watch the dancing. Also the dance plays the same whether you hit every move at the perfect time or miss it entirely.

While this may seem like there are a lot of cons to the game, it's really quite fun (especially on two-player mode) and many of the dance sequences are a lot of fun to play (like the advanced Tangos and Jives). I recommend it for anyone looking for a great family-oriented game or someone who likes hand-eye challenges. My mom and I have a blast playing this together.

Played this game last night and absolutely loved it. I am amazed at how much fun it was. 2 player really gets you involved in the game! The judging is great. We played for hours, laughing and enjoying ourselves! A great family game and a fun one to watch others play.

It was amusing at first but then it became boring and unapealling very quickly. I was really disapointed with this game it is all hand gestures for one which if you are a dancer makes no sense trying to translate foot placement to your hands. This would have been much better to have been designed as a DDR(Dance Dance Revolution) style game.
Also the graphics are terrible!
We've already traded it in.
