It's not DDR...,

If you are a big fan of Dance Dance Revolution, don't buy this expecting it to be just a new set of songs to dance to. I've exhausted all the DDR songs, so I bought this thinking it would be DDR with a theme. It's not. The steps are not scrolled to the top of the screen like DDR. Instead there are two scrolling feet, one coming from the left side of the screen and one on the right. Each foot has an arrow superimposed over it. So, if the arrow comes from the left side, you hit the coesponding arrow with your left foot and vice versa. I didn't have a chance to check out the quality of the song selection since I couldn't get beyond the poor mechanics of the game. In terms of the rest, it's set up just like the show. You do your dance, and then there is this aggregiously long load time, the three judges do a critique of your performance, followed by another aggregiously long load time, and then you get your score. Granted, you can hit "X" to bypass this, but there is a long load time before you even get that option. So, if you are a DDR fan, pass on this one. If you actually like Dancing With the Stars, and want to pretend you are on the show, maybe its for you.
PROS: It is compatable with your standard PS2 dancepad. CONS: Everything else.

When I first got the game, I couldn't get past the waltz and it was very frustrating to me. Then I realized that, unlike DDR, you not only have to step at the correct time, you have to release at the correct time, and either shift your weight to your other foot or step back to the middle. After training myself in DDR to NOT step back to the middle, I had to retrain myself to do so on this game. Once I figured that out, I got 9's and 10's right away, had no problem unlocking the other dancers, and with the extra step in the middle, I'm getting more exercise from it.
I agree with the other reviewer that the load time for the judging is very long. You can skip the judging altogether in the "practice" mode, but you can only practice songs you've unlocked, and you can only unlock songs in the regular mode. Overall, I like the game. I like DDR better.

I was introduced to this game on New Years Eve and fell in love with it.The screen shows you how to move your feet and you just follow along. If you are an adult, who has trouble with Dance Dance Revolution, then this is the game for you. It can give you a pretty good workout, so I use it as a form of aerobic exercise. I highly recommend it!
