I gotta tell ya I'm a tough guy someone who would not buy a Chick CD or sit through a love story so when I got my wife the CD I thought "here we go" but I took it one step further and took her to the Rams Head to see Aslyn live. I've owned this LP since it was released back in '09. I held off on reviewing it to give it time to grow on me. I realize that Aslyn's last record "Lemon Love" was released nearly 5 years from the release of this one, So I "did" expect some subtle change in her sound.

I gotta tell ya I'm a tough guy someone who would not buy a Chick CD or sit through a love story so when I got my wife the CD I thought "here we go" but I took it one step further and took her to the Rams Head to see Aslyn live. Best money ever spent from the MP3 download of the Dandelion Sessions to possibly one of the best performances I've seen from a young talent ever! This gals a Superstar and should be right up there with anyone in mainstream music Her vocals are straight to the heart with piano skills to match. The CD has spent 48 hrs straight in my player and I can't really say which songs the best cause everyone on the CD is awesome. Her talent rivals a young Carol King or Joni Mitchell and all the personality to go with it. Forget this American Idol stuff and do yourself a favor and pick up this CD to find out what REAL talent is or better yet get to one of her shows and experience it!! Thanks Aslyn for renewing my faith in good music and humble hard working talent

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection, October 6, 2009

I saw Aslyn perform in early 2009 and was blown away by her talent. I picked up a copy of "The Dandelion Sessions" after the show; I am very happy that I did, because the album was not officially released to the public until months later. I felt like I knew a secret that no one else knew -- until now.

This album is spectacular. When I heard the opening notes of "Brokenhearted Day," I knew that this was going to be an amazing record. I love every song on the record, from the upbeat, punchy "Riding The Breaks" to the tearful emotional ballad "What Is The Difference." Country music star Zac Brown offers his talents on the track, "Trying To Drive." The tracks flow effortlessly from one to another, and have fantastic hooks, strings, piano chords, and Aslyn's powerful vocals.

Don't ignore this record - you will be missing out on one of 2009's rising stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars The follow up album..., July 15, 2011

I've owned this LP since it was released back in '09. I held off on reviewing it to give it time to grow on me. I realize that Aslyn's last record "Lemon Love" was released nearly 5 years from the release of this one, So I "did" expect some subtle change in her sound.

Honestly, I'm not too happy about the sound of this album. Yes, there are good songs with great lyrics and melodies but the sound quality and lack of luster in the music take away from the greatness of the songs.

There are more dissapointments than pleasures with this release. When I heard Aslyn premiering her NEW songs live in late '06/Early '07 I was amazed and anticipated the sophomore release. The songs were much more powerful and her singing seemed so much more intense.

Now that the album has been released, the songs intensity levels have been taken down. The same songs that were played live are now more mellow, toned down and warm with a more acoustic appeal. Which is fine, I just already had my mouth set for a certain taste. Not only are the songs more winded down but the sound quality of the recordings are not equalized enough and dont have enough treble or "good" bass. It's a muffled sound...

I expected the songs to have a more tangy feel, A bit more... Rock?, This album is listenable but... Unlike Lemon Love, She didn't incorporate any other sounds or explore within her realm to create more balance to the album. The album is just a straight narrow line, the mood is the same from beginning to end.

Compared to Lemon Love, This album is flat and 1 dimensional in sound and character. "Brokenhearted Day" "Your Best Thing" "Making Her Right" "In & Out" "Can't Get There From Here" & "Tryin' To Drive" are all great peices of work... Live, But on the album they're just not the same. I also do not like the "duet album version" of "Tryin' To Drive"... It sucks.

Aslyn is completely talented and it shows but she should work with some better producers to enhance her sound and polish her up a bit. Her vocals and writing style pair better with a slightly more fresh or modern rock sound. The Linda Ronstadt similarities are too basic and stale for her...

5.0 out of 5 stars Aslyn, where have you been hiding/, September 21, 2010

I never heard of Aslyn until she appeared on Zac Brown's live album. Their duet of "Trying to Drive" was one of the best cuts on the Zac Brown disc. Aslyn solo is even better. Her voice is soulful, her songs are meaningful and her music is straghtforward and true. I don't know where Aslyn was hiding before Zac Brown featured her on his disc, but she should have a spotlight shining on her now.
