I got this card as a throw-away add-on when I bought a Rebel refurb off of eBay. There were 5 "accessories" including this card. The card reader was crap as were 3 of the 4 other accessories.

However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the card was a Dane-Elec. I've purchased DE flash cards over the years and have had good experience with them. I believe Dane-Elec is a respected, relatively large European manufacturer of flash memory. However, I assumed that this card, a type 4, would be super slow.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it keeps up with my XSI just fine. Although the Rebel is no speed demon, rated at 3.5 fps, the DE card had no problem meeting that rating while shooting in camera raw! This factoid is significant because a raw 12 megapixel file can be 18-20MB plus the jpg means that the card must read as much as 23MB of data for every picture taken. Now, I don't know how big the camera's buffer is. If it is 100MB or more, then the card speed probably doesn't matter. However, this card hasn't slowed me down.

One surprising aspect of this card is its speed relative to the Transcend 8GB card that I purchased. I assumed that the DE would be at best on par with the Transcend, Type 6, and maybe a bit slower. The reverse was true. In an entirely unscientific test, my computer wrote to the DE more than twice as fast as it did to the Transcend (8-10MB/sec versus 4-5MB/sec). The reads were on par with both cards peaking at about 15MB/sec.

Overall, the card represents a very good value. Currently, their prices are very close. If I were to buy more cards, I would choose the DE.

Got this Dane-Elec 8GB for a very reasonable $12 (FREE shipping) and when I tested it on my computer this Class 4 card turned out to write 15% faster than my more expensive 8GB Class 6 Transcend. This Dane-Elec wrote at 10.6 MByte/sec, while the Transcend wrote at 9.2 MByte/sec; both read back at 19.1 MByte/sec.

From now on, I'm keeping an eye out for Dane-Elec bargains when shopping for SDHC cards.

this card was quite a bit of a disappointment.
price was okay, but being advertised as a class 4, it was SLOW writing. way slower than my sandisk ultra II.
definitely not a Class 4

I ordered this item to go along with my new digital camera I purchased recently. I shipped via Amazon Prime's free 2 day shipping, and while it arrived on time, it was shipped specifying that signature was required for delivery on the order causing me to have to drive 40 minutes round trip and wait 30 minutes at the UPS depot to get my package instead of having it being left at my door like all my other packages.

This is an irresponsible seller, the item never arrived nor does he/she inform me of order cancellation or anything. I had to contact Amazon to find out that the order would never be delivered. Do not trust this seller. I will not buy from him/her ever again.
