3rd in the series - The Crenshaws of Texas - Jase's story, October 10, 2005
This review is from: Danger Becomes You (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Back Cover - Delta Force agent Jase Crenshaw knew no one would be looking for him in the remote cabin. The solitude suited him fine. No prying family, no concerned colleagues...and no one to point a deserving finger of blame. His physical wounds would heal. His soul was another story.
Though the waiflike creature on his doorstep was clearly in trouble, Jase vowed to offer only shelter from the storm. Leslie O'Brien's innocence and tenderness were more than he deserved. But their unexpected encounter could save them both....
This is the third book in the Creshaws of Texas series by Annette Broadrick. This book is about the mysterious younger brother, Jase, who has hidden himself away from his close knit family in a secluded mountain cabin to recover from wounds he sustained in his top secret undercover work for the government. He has a surprise visitor in Leslie O'Brien, a beautiful and innocent young woman who has been framed for a crime she did not commit because of something she witnessed. She is on the run from the law and needs Jase to hide her and to help her clear her name.
This is a really good romantic adventure. Leslie really brings Jase out of his shell and against his will he finds himself acting as her knight in shining armor riding to her rescue.

Danger Becomes You, February 7, 2007
This review is from: Danger Becomes You (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jason Crenshaw is recuperating alone in a cabin in Michigan. He was hurt while in the military in an incident that caused two members of his team to be killed. Jason is hurting physically and emotionally; he is riddled with guilt.
Leslie O'Brien is on the run. When her car runs off the road in a snowstorm, she knocks on the door of Jason's cabin looking for help. Jason begrudgingly offers her a place to stay making it clear to her that it is temporary. Jason and Leslie are slowly getting to know each other when a knock on the door reveals two men searching for Leslie. Leslie begs Jason to hide her and when they leave she tells him the whole story.
Jason opts to believe Leslie so he calls his brother Jude for assistance. They decide to head to the Crenshaw's ranch in Texas to keep Leslie hidden and safe. As they make the long journey there Jason and Leslie are becoming closer. Where it will lead them neither know though? They both have much to sort through in their lives and they are not sure where the other fits in.
Seeing Leslie with his family, Jason, who never thought about settling down, is thinking Leslie might be the one for him. Convincing Leslie might be more difficult than he thought though. First they have to get her out of danger, then he hopes to convince Leslie to stay.
Danger Becomes You started off great. The storyline was interesting but the intensity didn't last. I didn't feel that Jason and Leslie were very compatible. Leslie was conflicted between her morals and her desires and I felt she created unnecessary strife for herself. Jason is a little too aloof but I did eventually warm up to him. The Crenshaws are a lively and loving family that I have enjoyed reading about but unfortunately I was disappointed in Jason Crenshaw's story. It just didn't grab me.

#4 in THE CRENSHAW BROTHERS SAGA, November 12, 2007
This review is from: Danger Becomes You (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Opps! someone got mixed up -- a review of brothers - Jake was the oldest and ran the ranch - 33 when he met Ashley. [he had a 3 year old daughter, Heather that he didn't know about]. Jake is divorced.
Jared came next and was about 31 when he met Lindsey [and got forcibly pushed into marrying her]. Jude was about 29 or 30 when he met Carina [depending on the time frame]just didn't like her attitude.
Now a couple of years [maybe] later Jason is nearing 30 when he meets up with Leslie [all of the women being 25 at the time they meet the Crenshaw men].
Jase knows of his nephew Joseph Kenneth, son of Jake and Ashley. Jared ends up with a son [no name given] - and Jude and Carina have twin sons [apparently just born]Jase and Leslie make a change in have a daughter, Emily Ann Crenshaw.
I found it fascinating that the extended families of Joe and Gail are mostly male and their names all begin with J.
Jase didn't want to go home with his injuries as it seemed to give him a feeling of failure. He is toughing it out in a Michigan cabin with lots of snow.
Leslie is on the run from Tennessee and apparently not used to Michigan snow and just slides into the "ditch". She walks across the fields and woods following the smoke trail of a fire.
Well of course, they have to cuddle but Jace is in no condition to make a move on this waiflike creature. But oh, she feels so right in his arms.
He is still hobbling around on crutches in the snow and scared that she would not make it back before dark from her car.
Yikes! those dang Tennessee deputies show up. How did they find her? They try to convince Jase that she is a fugitive from the law.
This is when Jase contacts Jude who has police connections and Jude advises his brother to head for Texas and the ranch.
Well somewhere along the way and close to Texas, they hop into bed and Jase decides he wants to marry her. Boy is she in trouble now.
Yup! Them deputies track her down in Texas.
I like some stories where the characters are on the run but Desire is not long enough to include some close calls. And the stories tend to concentrate more on the emotions and bed hopping than on the intrigue or slight mystery involving the characters. But they are very good for fast reads.
Would you be interested in the family of J's? Joe has a brother, Jerome a Texas State Senator - with 2 sons, Jed and Justin, a land commissioner.
#2 brother, Jeffry with 2 sons, Jordan and Jackson - #3 brother, Josh with 3 sons, Jeremy, Justin, James - brother #4 had 3 sons, Jed, Jesse and Johnny -- what a family. [I may have someone mixed up].
Definitely recommended as a quick read Family Saga - some a bit more brazen than others.
