Editorial Reviews

Look! Not up in the sky! Inside your mailbox! A rodent! Two, actually!

And so begin the further adventures of DANGERMOUSE: THE COMPLETE SEASON 5 & 6. Beyond the limits of loony--37 outlandish cartoons are collected on DVD for the first time ever!

To some he's the world's smallest secret agent, to others merely a mouse. His sidekick's a bespectacled hamster. Do not be afraid. They are here to save the world, hi-tech gizmos at the ready. From the Amazon jungle to outer space and even back in time, DangerMouse and Penfold fearlessly tackle any escapade that comes their way. Each episode drawn and colored by the brilliant animation studios of Cosgrove Hall Productions (The Wind in the Willows, Count Duckula).

With more puns, spoofs and oofs, DANGERMOUSE: THE COMPLETE SEASONS 5 & 6 only get sillier and nuttier with age.

Loved this series when I was a kid. I see alot more humor in it now that I'm an adult. Just love the British silliness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally there! May 18, 2013
Here we are at long last, the better half of the Danger Mouse sets. It's been a fun ride getting here, but this is where the fun goes up to 11. Season 5 is good, but season 6 is the better of the 2 here & possibly my favorite season of the show ever (trust me you'll know it when you see it). Here's the episode list, with synopsizes from me or the box & grades (I'll only put my 2 cents for them here & there this time). There are 37 episodes on this set, & they are all in the 11 minute format, so that makes for 16.5 episodes. Personally, I think season 6 has the best 11 minute episodes ever. It also has the episodes I would introduce people to the show with.

32. The Long Lost Crown Affair: What's Greenback doing in the Amazon jungle? B+

33. By George It's a Dragon: Our duo versus a fire breathing monster in Wales. A

34. Tiptoe Through the Penfolds: An invention makes too many Penfolds! A-

35. Project Moon: An itty bitty step for rodent kind. C

36. The Next Ice Age Begins At Midnight...: Greenback wants to rule the world - or else! A-

37. The Aliens Are Coming: The fearless duo meet their match - giant alien toys! B+

38. Remote Controlled Chaos: Greenback takes control of DM's car. C

39. The Man From Gadget: Danger Mouse gets an assist from a gadget salesman. A

40. Tampering With Time Tickles: Danger Mouse is turned young & Penfold becomes old. C

41. Nero Power: Nero gets strange powers after falling into one of Greenback's machines. A-

42. Once Upon a Timeslip: A malfunction in the microphone gives the Narrator control over the show. He decides to have the characters act out the story of Robin Hood. Possibly my favorite 11 minute DM ever. This is a fantastic episode to start off season 6 with. A+

43. Viva Danger Mouse: A pincushion or two lies between Mexico and Britain. C

44. Play it Again Wulfgang: A mad composer destroys the world's music. A+

45. "Hear Hear": Penfold's poor hearing makes him the only person safe from Greenback's brainwashing. A

46. Multiplication fable: Don't touch things from outer space. An excellent "Trouble With Tribbles" parody. A+

47. The Spy Who Stayed In With a Cold: Agent 57 catches a cold, & whenever he sneezes he changes disguises. This is definitely the best episode with Agent 57. A+

48. It's All White, White Wonder: A loose germ turns everything the same color - white. A

49. The Hickory Dickory Dock Dilemna: Danger Mouse and Penfold have a tough time with a time traveling clock. A

50. What a 3 Point Turn-up for the Book: Our hero's car has a mind of its own. A+

51. Quark! Quark!: Penfold saves the Earth from Aliens. The first of 3 appearances by Quark, one of the best villains in the show. A+

Disc 2

52. Alping is Snow Easy Matter: More floods mean more rubber rafts means ka-ching! A

53. AAAGHHG!! Spiders!: Greenback turns spiders into giant-sized spiders. A+

54. One of Our Stately Homes Is Missing: Danger Mouse rescues an old house held for ransom. The opening with the Narrator is possibly my single favorite moment in the whole show. A+

55. Afternoon Off With the Fangboner!: Quark is back. B

56. Beware of Mexicans Delivering Milk: El Loco gives Danger Mouse that makes him sick. Can Penfold save the day? Not very funny, but the title is classic. C

57. Catastrophe: Colonel K is kidnapped by a cat robot. A

58. The Good, the Bad & the Motionless: Danger Mouse faces off with his dark side at Stonehenge. B+

59. Statues: Greenback brings stones to life. A+

60. The Clock Strikes Back: Only the dynamic duo can stop Merlin. B+

61. Ee-Tea!: Greenback steals all the tea in the world. A+

62. Bandits Beans And Ballyhoo!: El Loco goes crazy in London. This may be the second episode with El Loco airdate-wise, but it's the episode that introduces him & it's much better than the other one. A

63. Have You Fled From Any Good Books Lately?: Penfold learns not to accept gifts from aliens. The final epsidoe with Quark. A+

64. Tut, Tut, It's Not Pharoah: There's not Egyptian treasure to go around. A

65. "Lost, Found & Spellbound": Danger Mouse must rescue Professor Squakencluck from a witch doctor. B+

66. Penfold BF: Squakencluck's new pill turns Penfold into a superhero. This is one of my favorites. The Blue Flash (Penfold's superhero identity) is a parody of Underdog (Which I happened to also watch on Nickelodeon, & still enjoy. Not my favorite show, but not bad.) A+

67. Mechanised Mayhem: When machines go bad, who will pull the plug? A+

68. Journey To The Earth's Cor'!: Our diminutive duo investigates a very loud noise coming from the center of the Earth. A good episode, but I wish the season had ended with Mechanised Mayhem. B+

So that's 5 weak shorts, subtracted from 37 equals 32, so that leaves 16 good episodes, 11 of which are A/A+. By far the best Danger Mouse set yet. For once the description on the back of the box was 100% accurate: "With more puns, spoofs and offs, DANGER MOUSE: THE COMPLETE SEASONS 5 & 6 only gets better (and sillier and nuttier) with age." I couldn't have written a better description myself. To be honest, it's a toss-up whether I enjoy this or the last set more. But we'll get to that next time. Whether you are looking for a good laugh or wish to relive your childhood memories of this series, this set is an absolute must buy.
