THis is one of my favorite Nancy Drew and Hardy boys mystery I've ever read!! It all starts when Nancy goes to Japan for a vacation and is checking in to her hotel. While she is waiting in line she hears a crash. She turns around and sees an elderly women sorrounded by police. The womens vase had fallen and out of it had fallen tons of stolen pearls!! Nancy is convinced the women is being set up. Meanwhile Frank and Joe are in Japan also. They are trying to find out who is making cheap imitations in an electrical company. Are the cases connected somehow? And can the witty detectives find the answers before it's too late? Go out and buy this book to find out!

Not Quite What I Expected.,
This review is from: Tour of Danger (Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys Super Mysteries #12) (Paperback)
I love the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys Series and have found all of the books intriguing, however this is not one of my favorites. There were only three really exciting parst to this book. The Climax and when someone sepratly tried to put Nancy and Joe out of comission. The rest was rather boring. I would not reccomend this book to anyone who likes action packed on-the-edge-of-yuor-seat stories.

I really liked this one, even if there wasn't really any Nancy/Frank stuff in it. It was exciting and funny, and I've read it about a hundred times already!

I really enjoy this series,

I can't complain about this series. I enjoyed everyone of them several times. My mom even reads them. It is a great concept to have them work together. It would be fun to see a new tv series based on these books.

I grew up with Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. I've read some of the original editions (which unfortunately reflect the sexism and overt racism of their pre-WWII origins), all but one or two of the re-writes from the 1960s and 1970s (which are better in those categories), and significant proportion of the 'new' versions.I enjoy seeing the social attitudes, clothing, and slang change between editions. I'm not impressed with the newer editions. The level of deliberate rudeness, sarcasm, and self-centered defensiveness makes you want to scream. The characters no longer have that level of self-control and security that made them resemble young adults -- there are sections that are more like listening to a bunch of particularly ill-mannered junior high kids squabbling. A major theme of these books (which are clearly marketed to pre-teen girls) is that You Must Have a Boyfriend to be Complete. Did we really need to know that Joe thinks his latest girl smells like wild mint when he kisses her? Do we really need to listen to Frank and Joe fight about whether this girl tried to kill someone, with Frank pointing out that she had the opportunity, and Joe pointing out that she's too dreamy to do something like that? I recommend steering clear of this book. |
