Book Description

November 12, 2008
Rose Macaulay was born in 1881. She was a British novelist producing 35 novels. She also wrote biographies and travelogues. Her novels include Abbots Verney (1906), The Lee Shore (1920), Potterism (1920), Dangerous Ages (1921), Told by an Idiot (1923), And No Man's Wit (1940). Dangerous Ages is about four generations of women in post war England. Mrs. Hilary overcomes her prejudice against analysis and enjoys talking about herself. Rosalind, the lubricious female psychoanalyst, only wants male patients especially those who were shell shocked. Macaulay shows women looking for nontraditional roles and her satire of psychoanalysis is well done.
