THE FILMSCORE THAT CHANGED MY LIFE!,
By Bellouise (My3Georges@aol.com) (Nashville, Tennessee USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dangerous Beauty: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
The film score to "Dangerous Beauty" is the piece de resistance from its brilliant English composer George Fenton. It is undoubtedly, the finest work of his career and quite simply "the world's most exquisite music." This rapturous score brought me back to LIFE. It inspired me in so many creative, spiritual and physical ways (I even lost 50 lbs by listening to it while walking!) The music starts out in a nostalgic mood and in turn, becomes playful, hopelessly romantic, adventurous, bittersweet, heartbreaking, joyous, and majestic! It carries you from simple guitar lines to passion-filled love themes, bright march tempos that compel one to laugh & DANCE; lilting contrapuntal tunes, tension-building rhythms, royal flourishes of brass, haunting melodies and a full orchestral finale. I have listened to this magnificent music EVERY SINGLE DAY since its debut and I NEVER get tired of it! It ALWAYS fills my heart with love and sends my spirit upwards! I pray you will have the blessing & opportunity to share it with YOUR soulmate. Perhaps, it will change your life, too.

Perfect souvenir, 'cause the tracks are in order!,

This is the soundtrack for one of my favorite movies of all time. While the music is gorgeous, the highest praise I can give this particular album is this: the music on the album is in the order in which it is heard in the film. Most scores are mixed up, probably for aesthetic reasons, but that can make it hard to line up the music to the film. This score CD is in order, so when I listen to it, it tells the story. So when you hear "Second Poetry Duel" after "First Poetry Duel," you know why, and the music follows.
Now, if you haven't seen the movie, the music here is still perfectly wonderful, sweeping and romantic. The score is pleasant and light, evoking Renaissance Venice (though the music itself isn't particularily period) and doesn't crash over your head. I recommend it highly, along with the film for which it was written.

George Fenton's amazing soundtrack makes use of three or four musical themes that run throughout the entire recording, but nothing is ever repeated. Fenton often changes rhythms and keys to disguise his themes to fit the mood on the screen, but the themes themselves shine through to lend a feeling of oneness to the entire work. The manner in which these themes are used speaks to the remarkable orchestration employed... in fact, this soundtrack is the finest example of original orchestration and use of an entire orchestra that I have ever heard. This particular point is emphasized by the orchestration of the soundtrack's brightest theme which begins around 2:30 of track 13. This theme had earlier been employed through simple mandolin, pizzicato strings, and in a march rhythm. Here, it comes through in a bright can-can that utilizes the entire orchestra, notably incredible percussion and a delightful counter-melody from the horns. I give this soundtrack an incredibly forceful recommendation, not only as a great work of art, but also as something that every lover of traditional orchestral works must own simply for lovely background music.

This soundtrack is so romantic. This soundtrack really gives the movie justice! I love this soundtrack because it makes me cry and feel romantic while just listening to it and remembering the movie! George Fenton has created a master piece! His latest is Ever After, The Cinderella Story with Drew Barrymore! This soundtrack has almost the same feelings. I knew it when I heard this soundtrack. This is something ever female should have for a romantic evening!! Get this cd!!

Charming and Delightful Music!!,

This movie was brilliant and the soundtrack is even better! The music is so romantic and full of old fashioned quaintness. It has beautiful themes that are not overly done and repeated again and again (like Titanic). George Fenton is a wonderful composer of film music. If you like his music check out the Groundhog Day cd. It is also good.

Lush and Romantic Score from Fenton,
This review is from: Dangerous Beauty: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
Dangerous Beauty is one of those movies that you'll never get the clever one-liners out of your head, and listening to this soundtrack, you'll never be able to get the tunes out of your head, and you'll love it! Fenton, master of the romantic movie score,(who also authored the music from Drew Barrymore's Ever After) produces pure musical magic on this CD, every track making your heart soar, or plummet. It's an album that will never go unplayed in your collection, and if you loved the movie, it's a definite must-have.

Just a note on the trailer.,

My friends and I think the trailer music may have been "Posssession" from Sarah Maclachan's "Fumbling Toward Ecstacy" album. Don't take this as gospel truth, just an attempt to help. Otherwise, I loved this CD. It really captured the romance and sensuality of the movie. George Fenton is truly the master of the movie score. If anyone is interested, a lesser known of Fenton's scores, "Memphis Belle" is also wonderful. It encorporates both the sounds of the forties as well as the more traditional "Danny Boy."

Hauntingly Sensuous,

I was taken with this music from the very beginning of the movie. George Fenton has done a superb job with this movie score, so good in fact, I believe the music stands on its own without the help of the picture. If you enjoy Instrumental music with a classic flare, this is for you. With sounds reminisant to such greats as Antonio Vivaldi, you will play this over and over again. Pour yourself, and a friend, a glass of wine, grab a seat in front of the fireplace, and enjoy the hour plus of luxurious sounds coming from your sound system.
