Chilling danger drew her to the edge...,

This review is from: The Dangerous Cliffs of Severon (Paperback)
Back-cover: Alone and penniless after the sudden death of her musician father, Lisette Moore accepted a position at Severon Estates to tutor the talented but troubled Damon Severon. Expecting a sullen and withdrawn young boy, Lisette was stunned to be confronted by a dark, broodingly handsome man. Embittered by the accident that had killed his wife and left him unable to play his violin, the brilliant composer's life was tainted by scandal and chilling rumors of foul play. Irresistibly drawn to the tormented musician, Lisette ignored the tremblings of her own heart. Then Damon vanished, leaving only his dark cloak at the foot of a storm-tossed cliff. Lisette could no longer ignore the warnings of the ghostly figure who walked bu night or the mysterious letters she found hidden inside a violin. And the haunting strains of music that echoed through the castle's cavernous halls seemed to be telling her that soon she would be with Damon once more -in love- and in death.
I enjoyed this book very much.

I've read quite a few gothics, and this one was superb. It is told in the first person by the young heroine, Lisette Moore. We follow Lisette's hopes and fears as she attempts to recover from the recent death of her musically talented father by taking on a position at Severon Castle. Lisette soon discovers the person she has been hired to help is the musically talented, handsome & tormented Damon Severon. She is to be his assistant in composing the music for a play. The excellent plot, which kept me guessing right up until the mystery was finally revealed, mainly revolves around the beautiful deceased actress Serephine Severon, whose past existance and desires still effects the lives of all who knew her. The characters are well drawn, vivid and emotional with very individual personalities, which plays into the actions they take |
