5.0 out of 5 stars Great new direction for Bevarly Brandt, June 9, 2004
By
Moe811 (New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dangerous Curves (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
This is a new series and pseudonym for Bevarly Brandt. A computer genius and former FBI agent is hired by the man who didn't stand by her when she was drummed out of the Bureau on trumped up murder charges. She now works for a private security firm and Calder Preston asks for her help in a case. She has to investigate a woman named Hope Enslar, head of R & D for a large car manufacturer. The job is really just a reason for Calder to recontact Raine. He is looking for a way back into her life and is as surprised as Raine when the case connects to a very real and dangerous one. Calder has to make the decision whether to stick by Raine at the expense of his career this time or turn away like he has done before.

This was a very fast moving suspense novel with a lot of twists and turns and emotional drama. I particularly liked the references to the movie, To Catch a Thief. Raine is the daughter of a socialite and a former jewel thief named John Robey. A very good read and I expect to enjoy the next one just as much.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thrill and a pleasure!, July 12, 2004
This review is from: Dangerous Curves (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
Former FBI agent and computer whiz, Raine Roby, spends most of her time hidden behind her monitor in her 2 bedroom apartment. She and friends/former agents Aimee and Daphne have started a corporate security firm, Partners in Crime. But their lack of clients isn't paying the bills or instilling the thrills they were used to. When Raine's former boss and ex-boyfriend, Calder Preston, calls with an unofficial FBI case that's little more than a contact and a hunch, both Calder and Raine know the job is bogus. Or is it?

Fifteen year old, Megan Mulroney's biggest fears involved the boys in her grade never catching up with her growth spurt and falling asleep in class because she couldn't find time to squeeze some zzz's into her busy schedule. That is, until she finds herself kidnapped and trapped in the trunk of her mom's SUV aboard a cargo container headed for Venezuela. In order to get out alive, she'll need more than what she's learned watching spy movies - she'll need her wits, courage, and the help of two real heroes.

"Dangerous Curves" is two stories in one and both are outstanding. The romance between Raine and Calder is as intense and action-packed as their escape from the South American jungles. And Megan's survivor story makes you want to cry tears and pump your hand in the air with joy. Each twist and turn in this Jacey Ford book was believable, entertaining, and exciting. Here's hoping for a sequel!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dangerous Curves (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
This story is so goofy. I am not sure if the others who left great reviews are much younger than I or what. The too good to be true thing happens through out the book. I consider it a waste of time.
