5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging your faith
A DANGEROUS FAITH is an excellent book filled with faith-challenging short stories. Good for adults, teenagers; has thoughtful questions and comments at end of each chapter. Could be used for small Bible study.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Book!
As a Christian, I was expecting a book that glorified Christ in times of crises, not a self-serving, ego-driven author whose opening chapter describes his slaugher of a Cape buffalo, an animal he went intentionally to Africa to kill. The guile of this man in saying that hunting for him "was never about wanting to vanquish another creature" is appalling, in light of the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book!, October 22, 2008

I didn't know what to expect when I picked up this book, but I quickly found myself drawn in by the stories and the messages they contained. There is nothing "small" about anything here: not the adventures, not the beautifully detailed, highly resonant descriptions, and certainly not the God they celebrate. Everything is larger than life, exactly like that same God. A real triumph for Jim Lund and Peb Jackson, reflecting lots of careful thought and serious research. I especially appreciated Mr. Lund's short, chapter-ending devotionals - he demonstrates not only a genuine gift for storytelling but also a corresponding sensitivity to the "hidden linkages" that tie together what man's nature would have us do and what God's nature would have us learn. Highly, highly recommended!

This was one of the books, purchased for our 15 year old grandson. We only send Christian-based books. It was well enjoyed and shared with his brothers.

Full of great, true, and inspiring stories. Pick it up - you won't regret it. You may seek out an adventure of your own after reading this. It was great to see how the Lord worked in all these lives and situations.

I was delighted and humbled in reading the true life experiences of the numerous characters in this special new book. The experiences shared in almost all cases were very very touching and also strengthening in Faith. I was especially appreciative of the writings after the stories conveying the connection to Jesus and God. Remembering how God helps us, even in times of great dispair is a good message to bring forward. Truly not knowing at the time what blessings will come from the lesson, is protrayed here well.

I believe James Lund does an excellent job in story telling and bringing clear messages to us.

5.0 out of 5 stars great read, June 17, 2008
This review is from: A Dangerous Faith: True Stories of Answering the Call to Adventure (Paperback)
These are exciting and dramatic adventure stories, but even better, each story leaves you with a point to ponder about the connection between risk and faith. Highly recommended.

The guile of this man in saying that hunting for him "was never about wanting to vanquish another creature" is appalling, in light of the photo of himself toting his huge gun standing over his kill. To place himself as an example of "dangerous faith" alongside survivors of September 11th takes unmitigated gall. We live in times when Christian men need to step up to the plate and live lives that give glory to God, not feed our personal egos by killing His creatures.
