Don't Waste Your Money!!,
By MLP "mlp32" (New Jersey ,United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dangerous Games: The Devil to Pay / Wizard (Mass Market Paperback)
I never write reviews, but felt compelled this time because I don't want anyone else to waste their money. Although it is not stated anywhere in the description, this book is a reprint from two books published under her pen name, Stephanie James. Both books were written in 1985. Needless to say, they are outdated. Both leading men are dominating and emotionally abusive with implied physical threats thoughout. The woman are whiny and constantly back down from conflict in order to 'calm down' the raging leading men. Jayne Ann Krenz did not bother to update or rewrite anything, so this is just a way to rake in a few easy bucks for her and her publisher. Don't be a sucker like me. Avoid this one and save yourself some money!!

Alas I wish I listened,

I tried to give this book the benefit of the doubt. Since some of Jayne Ann Krentz reissues are good. But this just isn't one of them. The Heroines are truly weak while the men in the novels are so-so. I wish that I saw the previous review before I purchased the novel. Please listen and wait for the next one.

Ugh... Ok so I should have maybe looked at the reviews before I bought it BUT I love JAK and well it was instinctive.. So I wasted my money.
ITS A REPRINT PEOPLE!!! Originally published in 1985 or something. There is no traditional JAK spark.. it was dull and boring and to tell you all the truth I didnt even finish The Devil to Pay. I fell asleep instead. If you want to read something GREAT from Jayne Ann Krentz read the Arcane Society series!

Outdated,
This review is from: Dangerous Games: The Devil to Pay / Wizard (Mass Market Paperback)
I read the other reviews on the book that talked about how outdated the story lines are and that Jayne Krentz was just trying to get some extra money by republishing these novels. But if you read the back of the book it specifically says that Stephanie James was Jayne Krentz's pen-name for novels that have a "battle-of-the-sexes" type theme. So if you don't like conflict between the main characters of your romance novels, then don't read this or anything else by Stephanie James. But I found the stories to be interesting. And while the men are domineering and the women can be a bit whiny or weak in some areas, there is a strength of character and will in both the "hero" and "heroine" that drive the conflict between them. Overall I think it was a good book, but many readers may not enjoy it because it is quite outdated.

I wasn't interested in the first story, The Devil to Pay but I enjoyed Wizard. It was a fun, easy read. It wasn't the best book ever but it was enjoyable.
