Dare dares the limits,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dangerous Ground (Paperback)
It has been ten years since Ian Russell died during an overseas covert operation. His group of operatives, The Wolf Pack, immediately disbanded and faded into the woodwork. However, they all agree to answer any requests for help from one another, using the Wall Street Journal as the avenue of communication. For the past decade, Jess Harper has forgotten his past. However, a cry for help appears in the paper, bringing him out of hiding. He meets with his summoner, Ian's widow Beth, the woman he always has loved who reciprocated his feelings. Apparently her son is missing and Beth feels the lad has been kidnapped. While working together, their old feelings return. Also returning is old enemies who plan to terminate the two lovers. DANGEROUS GROUND is a well written, exciting romantic suspense. The lead protagonists are a charming couple, who will garner reader empathy and interest and the story line is fast-paced. Justine Dare is a writer that will go very far within the sub-genre. P>Harriet Klausner

Highly Recommended,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dangerous Ground (Paperback)
Seventeen years earlier Beth declared her love for Jess, only to be turned away by him claiming he was unlovable. Instead she married his best friend Ian. 10 years after Ian's death, Jess is called to help Beth find her missing son. The love they shared for eachother never dimmed and now they fight their feelings for eachother and come to terms with secrets from the past that are coming back to haunt them. Lucky for a beautiful day in Seattle, I was able to sit out in the rare sunshine reading all day. I highly recommend this book. Hopefully this will be the start of a series and Lake will be in her next book.

I just couldn't put this book down.,

This was the first time I'd read a Justine Dare book. It certainly won't be my last! It's very rare to find an author who can tell a story, both what is happening in the present, and what happened in the past, that will keep you turning the pages. So often an author will turn back the clock as if the main character(s) is daydreaming about what had happened to bring them to this point. With this book, it is interspersed with the entire story, always bringing a new aspect into what is happening, and what may happen further along, while tieing the entire story line together with perfection. This type of writing made me keep turning the pages well into the wee hours of the morning. The main storyline is about Beth Russell, the widow of a covert "unofficial" government agent, Ian Russell, who has been dead for 10 years; and Jess Harper, a member of the team code named "Wolf Pack" that Ian Russell had formed and led. Beth and Ian's son, Jamie, ! has been kidnapped. The police believe he has merely run away, but Beth knows different. After running out of options, she uses the only thing she has left to try and find her son. The 'Wolf Pack' pledge: that if anyone of the team ever needed another, there was a way to get in contact with the remaining three members of the team. This story is about Beth and Jess. What happened in the past, and what is happening to them while they search for Jamie. It never loses sight of the main characters while the story line builts to it's conclusion. I highly recommend this story. And hope that Ms. Dare will write a sequel about the one "Lone Wolf" left, Lake McGregor.

Marianne says " a great 4am book!",
By A Customer
This review is from: Dangerous Ground (Paperback)
If you are looking for a great 4am book, "Dangerous Ground" is for you. A 4am book is a novel you can't put down until the very end, even if you stay up until 4am. Justine Dare has written a story of lost love found mixed with revenge and a secret operations group known as WOLF. The "Lone Wolf", Jess, returns to help Beth find her kidnapped son. While uncovering betrayal and secrets, Jess and Beth find what they threw away years before. The only thing better than this novel has to be Lake's story. Lake, another member of WOLF, is still on a quest for justice. Please, Justine Dare, don't keep your readers waiting too long for his story."Dangerous Ground" is a definite place on your keeper shelf.

Good but....,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dangerous Ground (Paperback)
I read the reviews on this book before I went out and bought it. I was looking forward to getting it home and reading it but... while I did enjoy the book, I found it a little far fetched. I don't think it's possible to believe that this could really happen. I would recommended reading this book because it was a good story, but, there backround could have been more believable and I would have enjoyed it better.

Dark and compelling love on the shelf.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dangerous Ground (Paperback)
Justine's tale is every mother's nightmare when her son disappears and no one believes he hasn't just run away. The relationship between Beth and Jess seems impossible to make happen. Despite the complexities, Justine manages to pull it together in this brilliant story where noble love is allowed to destroy, then rebuild better and stronger than before.I loved Beth's superior strength in the face of insurmountable odds. She's the kind of woman we can all respect, a true heroine. I have only one question that frustrated me. Where was Lake McGregor? "Out of touch for a few weeks" made me want to tear my hair! But I'll be waiting to meet him in the sequel. Sure hope he'll have an answer. You can't put down Dangerous Ground; it leaves you wanting more, more! -Lee Emory
