Dangerous Influence - tough, hard-hitting action,
By Gene McDougall (Arlington Heights, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dangerous Influence (Hardcover)
. I'm a George Grisham, Tom Clancy and Mickey Spillane fan. Now, after reading "Dangerous Influence," I'm adding it's author, William F. Amato, to my list. His book grabbed my attention right from the beginning and never let go. I started reading it in the evening, put it down at bedtime, then wasted no time finishing it the next morning. I had to know how it ended. Amato's obvious familiarity with Chicago serves him well as he gives us a tour of the city as well as an intimate look at some its most corrupt and dangerous denizens. We are enixorably swept along as his protagonist, a crusading radio talk show host, Marco Fischer, becomes ever more deeply mixed up with some of the city's most unethical and dangerous political and criminal elements. Then, just as it seems things couldn't get any worse, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of a nightmare of violence where neither he nor the evil-doers are safe. Amato is a writer who knows how to tell an absorbing, fast-paced story. Well worth a read. |
