4.0 out of 5 stars SUPERGRUNTS!!!!, July 9, 2003
This review is from: Dangerous Missions: Forward Observers [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Finally, a history of one of the least known but most important jobs on the battlefield. All of the men profiled in the video are true heroes! Forward observers are tasked with being the all important go between for the infantry and the artillery that supports them. They seek out targets and bring down the steel rain of artillery on those who seek to destroy our infantry. Often, as you see in the video, the forward observer must bring the fire down on his own position, jeopardizing his own life so the unit will not be overrun. Featured are both army and Marine Corps forward observers, though most of the training sequences show army training at Ft. Sill, Ok. all in all not a bad history of some overlooked men in our nation's armed forces, truly the tip of the spear.
