This review is from: Dangerous Places Travels on the Edge (Paperback)
This book was described as an autobiographical travel piece, but it's far more than that. This is the story of a woman who's made a journey that's much further than the distance on a map. The author shares both her personal story and the stories of her observations as she travels across the U.S., Mexico, Central America, and South America. It is still amazing to me that this wasn't a longer book since there is so much that's packed into it. The pace is quick and sometimes unrelenting. Unfortunately use of the trite term of "page turner" does indeed apply here. This is a story of a woman without advantage other than her heart, mind, and a strong will. Interestingly this is also a woman that is still in mid-stride. Oprah! Why haven't you discovered this one? I was absolutely energized and inspired when I finally put this book down!
