5.0 out of 5 stars A challenging book by a thoughtful author, May 19, 2005
This review is from: Dangerous Religion (Paperback)
This book should be compulsory reading for all those in the neo-Pagan movement. It should also be required reading for anyone doubting the very real commitment to change of those on the left. A refreshing anti-dote to both the right wing corporate media and the extreme hippie left (that sometimes characterizes the neo pagan movement), this book argues the case for change in our society.

A rich thought provoking text, stock full of concrete examples of the forces aligned against the environment, this book is both a call to action and a justification for that action in the protection of our existence. Yes it is that serious, but justifiably so. Dangerous Religion is a must for those who want to see a better "tomorrow."

Outlining the case for global animism and the protection of our environement, the book nourishes the neo pagan movements future growth. With serious authors such as Myers the future of neo paganism is in safe hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars For those serious about nature, November 13, 2006

Jennifer Gibson (Ottawa, ON, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Dangerous Religion (Paperback)
Brendan Myers presents a compelling argument for joining those involved in the social and environmental activist movements, as well as taking a serious look at natural spirituality. Personal anecdotes mix with philosophical ideas throughout, including Myers' first hand account of the protest against the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City, QC, Canada in April of 2001. Especially through this anecdote, he shows that not only does he talk the talk, he walks the walk. His down-to-earth discussion of natural spirituality, based on Celtic spirituality, melds with his discussion of environmentalism and personal responsibility.

This is not a fluff book, it is a philosophical discussion. Every human being should read it as it not only talks about how humans are and should be interacting with nature, but how we should respect each other and ourselves enough to hold ourselves to a higher standard of behaviour. For people following a natural spirituality, this book provides an invaluable step up from the run-of-the-mill Paganism 101 books.
