5.0 out of 5 stars Magical Drake Sisters Romance, June 29, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Christine Feehan has written one of the best of her Magical Sisters novels. There is sissle, romance, danger, and magic in this episode of the series.

Libby Drake is the fourth of the seven sisters with magic. She is the Doctor, the good girl, the one who never gets in trouble. She has a gift for healing, using her abilities in context with her profession. Libby feels like the overlooked one in the Drake family, she feels she is destined to be an old maid, because she has never felt the pull of passion or the heat of chemistry.

Tyson Derrick is a genius, he and Libby attended college together. She has great respect for his brillance, but not for his social skills. Tyson is a loner, except for his cousin Sam. His interests lie in research but occasionally he needs to fill the emptiness inside, so he skydives, mountain climbs, or works with the Rescue Team his cousin is on. Only a rush of adrenaline seems to make him feel alive.

Until the day his safety rope snaps and he falls 30 feet onto the rocks below him. He is rushed to the hospital and declared in a vegative state. When Libby sees him she is forced by her gift to save his life, even at the risk of hers and her sisters. As Libby collapses he awakens to stare into her eyes and find there is something else that can make him feel alive. That can fill his empty heart. Suddenly he finds his mind filled with everything about Libby. He doesn't believe Libby can heal and considers her sisters con artists who have fooled a whole community. But he is determined to make her his.

There is a beauty and soothing quality in her face and Ty needs to have that in his life, Libby finds she is not without feelings of her own. As they try to learn about each other they are faced with several attempts on their lives. But are they against Libby or Ty. Each is determined to protect the other and the rest of the sisters are going to try to protect both.

I loved this book and found it one of the most readable ones I have read lately. It left me hungry for the next in the series. Don't miss this treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feehan at her best..., June 28, 2006
By
This was one of the best Feehan books that I have read in the last couple of years. This is about Libby Drake, Witch/Doctor/Healer and Ty Derrick, genius researcher. I'm not going to give you the plot or a description of the book because there are reviewers out there that will do a much better job of it than I can. I will tell you that this was a very satisfying love story and mystery. And character development was extremely good with both the hero and heroine - they grew in this book to be a unit and it was great to see. I especially loved the hero of this book. Also, each Drake sister is very much involved in the book and it was nice to see the sisters from the previous books, but I wish I had seen their fiancés (who were absent in this book) We also get glimpses of future books and pairings as in Hannah with Jonas, Elle with Jackson and Joley with a minor character from a previous book (he was mentioned once in this book and I can't remember his name but I immediately remembered him from a previous book). Now I not-very-patiently wait for the next installment of the Drake Sisters. Write fast Ms. Feehan!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars libby and ty's story is not what one would expect, July 9, 2006
Like many others, I didn't expect Libby Drake's story to be particularly exciting. It seems the three younger Drake sisters, Hannah, Joley and Elle would have the best and most interesting stories out of the series. I planned to buy Dangerous Tides anyway, since I'm a big fan of the Drake sisters.

Libby's story is much better than I thought it would be. It showcases the lengths people would go to in order to get what they want; whether or not they have good intentions. It also shows how irrational and selfish people can be when it concerns their loved ones. People are sometimes too blind to see what's right in their face. Despite their insight, the Drakes are also susceptible to these faults.

Just because Libby's the sweet and caring sister out of the seven does not make her any less lovable. Christine Feehan has a knack for diversity which I'm grateful for. If all seven sisters were similar to one another in terms of personality, then it defeats the purpose of having seven different people (it might as well be one girl) starring in each book (with seven different love interests); and it wouldn't be realistic.

Libby sometimes tires of her good girl disposition and wishes she wasn't such a goody goody. She feels as if she's boring, and isn't much fun to be with. Like many other women, Libby is insecure about her looks. Especially since she has a model and a rock star in her family. She is a compassionate and understanding person with or without her empathic abilities. She strives to help people any way she can; even at the cost of harm to herself - major or minor. Her ability to heal makes her the target of many desperate, unreasonable people, which puts her safety at risk.

Tyson Derrick is nearly a mad scientist. He's driven with the need to know almost everything about anything. His brain needs constant stimulation. To feed his hunger for action, he's often engaging in some sort of extreme sport or experimenting in his lab. He's socially inept and feels out of place.

Ty thinks the Drake sisters like receiving attention and believes their gifts are a farce. At first he wanted to save Libby from her crazy family, but came to realize she needed protecting from the ridiculous demands other people make of her. She seems to be the only one in Sea Haven who isn't dumbfounded by Ty's tendency to go off on factual tangents, and can match him fact for fact. She accepts him for who he is, and because of that, Ty refuses to let anyone take her away from him.

Dangerous Tides is filled with scientific research, action, suspense and heart warming romance. There's a strong sense of family and friendship (like it is with all the Drake sister novels). The events in this novel illustrate how much loved ones can impact a person's life, how people should appreciate certain things and not take them for granted.
