I like slow songs, but the ones on Beyonce's album are boring.
Keezie
It was a good album, something i can just put on and listen to from start to finish, not many albums out there like that!
Tina
The song is very beautiful and their voices flow together nicely.

Beyonce shines through as a woman without her group around her, and surprise ... it's a retro-fitted hip hop affair with a lot of sensual laid back grooves. The first single "CRAZY IN LOVE" is the most uptempo sampling a 70s groove from "Are you my Woman". That is followed by "NAUGHTY GIRL" which Beyonce uses a hook from "Love to Love You Baby" by Donna Summer. We all knew she has a reverence for the 70s, but most surprising are the Middle Eastern influences found in both NAUGHTY GIRL and BABY BOY. Belly dancers rejoice! The second half of the album slows down, but never to a ballad speed. Low funky beats keep the entire album afloat, and rap stars like Jay Z, Missy Elliot, Sean Paul, and Sleepy Brown color almost every other song. It's ghetto fabulous from the cover photo (diamonds and jeans) to the spoken "BEYONCE INTERLUDE" where she coos into the mic about love. Will she tromp Kelly Roland's solo album numbers in sales? Maybe. But each member of Destiny's Child has proven they can stand on their own. And have their own identity musically. Beyonce has emerged as the sexy 70s cool hip hop girlfriend. Suddenly you realize Foxy Cleopatra would love this CD!

This album is really good! Been a true fan of Beyonce and Destiny's Child since the beginning. Her album shows that sista girl has grown up. LOL Here's my comments and ratings for each song.
- Crazy in Love (10/10) great song for her debut
- Naughty Girl (9/10) cool
- Baby Boy (10/10) nice song with Sean Paul
- Hip Hop Star (7/10) it's ok
- Be with you (9/10) nice slow jam
- Me, Myself and I (9/10)
- Yes (10/10) pretty nice beat
- Signs (10/10) Missy knows how to do it!
- Speechless (6/10) really slow and drawn out, cool though
- That's How You Like It (8/10) its ok,
- The Closer I get to you (9/10) great collaboration with the legendary Luther Vandross
- Dangerously in Love 2 (8/10) should have left the original version from last DC album, love the song though.
- Gift From Virgo (8/10) cool ending
- Daddy - Bonus Track (9/10) nice tribute to her dad.
Overall it's a good album. Even if you're a Beyonce hater, just accept that she's a great writer and producer. She's really good. Great work!! Hope it helps

I love Beyonce's first two singles, "Crazy In Love" and "Baby Boy"! So I decided to download this and hear the rest of the album, as I had high hopes for this release. Really, I did! And boy, was I disappointed. The only other song that's single material is "Naughty Girl". "Baby Boy" is where the list of good tracks ends!! The rest of the album is slow and repetitive. I can't tell one song from the next, which is why I'm not doing a song-by-song analysis. Instead of singing like with Destiny's Child and her first two singles on the solo album, she pulls a Mariah Carey and whisper sings the entire album! Bottom line: Wait for the next Destiny's Child album!!

How appropriate it is for Knowles to incorporate Donna Summer's "Love to Love You, Baby" on "Naughty Girl". The ubiquitous Miss Knowles is all over the map like Summer was during HER 70's heyday. Perhaps, Summer's is the pattern for which the younger is following. Not a bad icon to emulate.
With that said, it must be noted that "Dangerously in Love" is not very "perilous". It features routine pop/urban fluff with too many guest stars that overshadow Knowles's attempts at independence as a solo artist. Like so many of her contemporaries, the album's length weighs it down. Ten songs, at most, would have elevated the album a notch or two.

The success of this album is, no doubt, driven by the onslaught of the "Crazy in Love" video. The song, by itself, is lyrically unintelligible but it does boast a killer dance beat.
If Knowles really wants to impress, she needs to do a few more like the tasty "Speechless", the strongest track on the album, or a duet on the caliber of her pairing with superstar Luther Vandross ("The Closer I Get to You").
Oh, yeah, food for thought: Summer has an Oscar on her mantle, by the way.

Wow! if there is any way that I can describe this album to you is, the first 5 tracks are good!, the rest it's just boring!, and what about the title song! the same track from her Survivor album? without the background vocals? not a smart move!. Crazy In LOve, Baby Boy are the best tracks!, Naughty Girl it's ok!, the rest of the album is sooooooo booooooooring......but the leading single(Crazy...) makes its worth it to buy it. "Hip Hop Star" it's nice, "Be With You" it's the last song that you can handle!, "Me Myself and I", yuk!, "Yes" whassup with this?, "Signs", I'm sure Missy hates her, she produce the worst song ever, The rest it's not worth it mention it, the song are just boooooooring.

Just another conceited airhead with no intelligence and looks that blind people into thinking that she's the biggest thing to happen to music spewing out the same old crap, just oversinging her words and saying nothing. Most of this album has everyone and their grandma guesting on it. If she truly is what she and everyone else says she is, can't she do ANYthing by herself??? Alicia Keys can. Tori Amos can. Lauryn Hill (where ARE you when we need you?) could. India.Arie and Ashanti are the only girls in R&B that I care to listen to because they keep it positive and are real females and have talent. Otherwise, females in R&B have just gone down the drain, and that's why I don't even bother to listen to women too much (or R&B), cause they seem to have nothing to say besides doing that played-out booty dance. Listen to rock music, listen to jazz (Diana Krall and Norah Jones especially), listen to ANYTHING but this overrated garbage. Remember when R&B used to mean something? Marvin Gaye, Aretha, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, all those people not only were truly soulful but were deep as well. I don't see how that girl won all those awards for this...oh well, I guess style will trump substance every time. And as long as it does, R&B music will continue its downward spiral with people like her representing it and I'll continue to listen to people from other genres or older music, because that's when artists were truly artists and music was really music.
