I enjoyed this book very much which I thought was very well written and tintillating. The stories were told with clarity and detail enough to pull the reader right into the scenes and experiences of the charachter. I will buy the other books writen by this author who has a great style.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wicked.....
Ms. Hobbs is an excellent author that has a very unique style of writing. She captures her readers in tales that go above and beyond the average mind and enters into the devious and yet oh so wicked minds of her characters.

"Dangerously In Love" was a great novel and for some reason her character Reed made me think of some type of sci-fi storyline. She...

5.0 out of 5 stars Dangerously In love, I loved it!, February 15, 2006

This review is from: Dangerously In Love (Paperback)
"Dangerously In Love" by Allison Hobbs was a very good read. I finished this book in 2 days, it will have you hooked. Just like her other 2 books, this one does not dissapoint. If you haven't read her other 2 books, do yourself a favor and get them! Anyway Reed and Dayna have been married for 3 years, but are not in love anymore. Reed is always gone, and wait until you find out what he's out doing. Poor Dayna, a school teacher just sits at home eating, gaining weight. Dayna gets fed up with keeping up the facade of being happily married, and asks Reed for a divorce that's when the drama starts! Chanelle "Sensation" Lawson is an 18 year old stripper/escort that is looking for love in all the wrong places, like in the arms of one of her tricks! Sadly, most of her tricks have some real issues to go along with the phat pockets. I don't really want to tell the story but the ending of this book is totally unexpected. Keep up the good work Ms. Hobbs. This book also goes on my list as one of the best of 2006.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Warnings, February 20, 2006
This review is from: Dangerously In Love (Paperback)
Allison Hobbs writes another love suspense story... and you guessed it - "Hershey" (Saleema Sparks) makes her 3rd appearance; schooling people on life as usual and caring for her godchild, Markeeta.

Dayna Reynolds met and married her husband, Reed Reynolds, in six months. No way was she prepared for what happened in her three years of marriage.

Chanelle Lawson, former stripper and escort female, now working a "normal" job meets a scorned client from the predominately white strip club "Lizzare's" and her life is now weighing in the balances.

Buttercup, recovered addict and former "ghetto" stripper, yearns the love of a man, whom she thinks she found in Reed Reynolds. When she finds out otherwise, she gets her revenge.

Reed Reynolds, sociopath husband of Dayna, is dangerously imbalanced, entangled with multiple woman and the love problems escalate.

Allison seems to like writing about the crazies (just kidding) and Hershey.

Once I got past chapter 8, it was on and poppin'! Allison has penned another page turner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Once you get to know Reed you know he'll be your worst nightmare., July 17, 2006

This review is from: Dangerously In Love (Paperback)
This is a great book because it's quick and easy to get into. Allison Hobbs dedicates her creative talents into this urban novel. This dynamic read is told from the imagination of an enthusiastic writer who definitely shows that good will always prevail over evil.

The characters, Dayna is a lonely wife, in search of finding happiness in a dead end marriage by trying to make her purpose in life complete by trying to add a bundle of joy to her dysfunctional marriage. Reed her husband is so addicted to sex that he can't go home at night. Chanelle Lawson, former stripper and escort female,is seeking a normal life and a husband. Then thier's Buttercup, recovered drug addict and stripper, who is also in the search for love, whom she thinks she can get it from Reed. All of these characters are in search of something more than what they're currently being offered and it makes up for a story filled with DRAMA, danger and longing.

Like what many others had said, this book will catch your interest from the start to finish. Ms. Hobbs definitely shows the reader that being happy is a possibility, no matter how grim things may seem. This story proves the old saying God works in mysterious ways. It constantly leaves you in suspense and just when you think that you have everything figured out... something new occurs. I would recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in love and suspense.

4.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 3.5) - Seeking Satisfaction, June 2, 2006

The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dangerously In Love (Paperback)
Allison Hobb's DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE explores the seedy underworld of sexual addiction. Married to Dayna for three years, Reed Reynolds is swiftly spinning out of control trying to keep his secret life under wraps. His desire is to become successful and make a lot of money but he doesn't want to put forth the effort to get there. He is also held back by his growing obsession. He spends his evenings and Dayna's hard-earned money feeding his habit. All the while Dayna is lonely at home desperately wishing for a child to complete her fantasy of being a good wife and mother.

Chanelle Lawson is working hard in a profession she hates. Saving her money and dreaming of meeting the perfect husband to take her away from life as a stripper, she tries to hold to her promise to her grandmother not to sell her body. Known as a stripper with morals, Chanelle patiently awaits the day she can leave this life behind. The world of these three characters collides in a tumultuous climax as Reed displays just how sick and twisted his mind really is.

DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE will hold your attention until the riveting end. Hobbs has a writing style that is all her own with this page-turner. Although I couldn't put the book down, I was a bit disappointed because the ending left quite a few unanswered questions. I would have like to know more of Dayna's reaction after finding out about Reed's secret life. Also, some of the secondary characters could have been developed more. For example, Dayna's father is mentioned and there is a bizarre relationship that he shares with her mother but he never interacts with the characters in any of the scenes in the book. Another question that puzzled me is what led to Reed's deviant behavior. Nonetheless, the story line will definitely hold the reader's attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it... after about page 100, May 31, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dangerously In Love (Paperback)
Is is me or did it seem like someone else wrote the first 100 pages of this book? Ms. Hobbs has a style of writing that stands out and she uses certain words and phrases. Those phrases and words were non-existant for the first 100 pages or so. The writing was good enough to keep me going but I could definately tell a difference... especially after reading and loving her other books.

After about page 100 the "it" hit the fan! Brutal, sexual, violent, funny, and fast paced is what I love and what (part of) this book delivers. Get this book, get here previous books, and get her next one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wifey,Sex Fiend and Strippers!!, April 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dangerously in Love (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the first book I have read by Allison Hobbs, all I can say is WOW!! Dayna and Reed are unhappily married, Dayna is a faithful wife at home and a teacher during the day. Reed is a unfaithful, disrespectful husband at home and a nasty, freaky perverted sex fiend at night.

While Dayna is planning to tell Reed she wants to have a baby, Reed is having sex with strippers and hookers.

Chanelle "Sensation" is a chocolate brown stripper in search of a rich and attractive husband. Chanelle's is searching for the perfect man to marry her and live happily ever after.

There are two stories in this book, both collide at the very end. Allison Hobbs is a great writer, I enjoyed reading about the charaters in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars good book, messed up ending, November 25, 2007
This review is from: Dangerously in Love (Mass Market Paperback)
I really liked this book, however, the ending did not fit. It seems Ms Hobbs rushed the ending to the point she and the editor missed some of the facts. I agree with another reviewer when she said Buttercup had just gotten out of jail but told the police she had been locked up for days in Reed's house. The other thing that was messed up was the book never revealed how Buttercup found out about Reed stealing the money from her grandmother. She was truly a bold crack head to go breaking into somebody's house by herself in a neighborhood she knew nothing about. And why wasn't Buttercup living with her grandmother in the first place? Who was living with her before Buttercup moved with her, since she seemed to be in bad shape already? There were quite a few other things that happened at the end or should I say did not happen at the end that just put a damper on the entire book. The editor should have caught them.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Allison Hobbs Fan..., August 22, 2007
This review is from: Dangerously in Love (Mass Market Paperback)
I was interested in this book due to the Zane affiliation. I enjoyed this book and I can now say that I am a fan of Allison Hobbs. I looked forward to seeing what wild and crazy things Reed would do next, he has major issues. I read this book in about a week, there was enough going on that made me WANT to keep reading. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
