Clancy-style action and insider detail, steamy encounters,
By H.L. Preston (Colorado USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: On Danger's Edge (Paperback)
Wow! Lise Fuller has an extraordinary eye for detail. Given her fascinating and varied background, in Fuller you can expect meticulously-researched and action-packed romance with a wealth of insider information. On Danger's Edge will appeal to men as well as women, with the Special Forces mission details fully realized. If you love a good adventure where you also *learn* something, On Danger's Edge is a fast-paced, entertaining ride! This author has a knack for cinematic visualization - I could almost *see* the scenes as she switched viewpoints to cover the action in the most seamless way. I'm hoping this author does not get snapped up by Hollywood before she can come out with more of the books in this series! Good read, exceptionally good first action/adventure/romance novel. Snap it up, signed if possible!

On Danger's Edge,
This review is from: On Danger's Edge (Paperback)
When Tom MacCallum goes to the local bar with his buddies, he's only looking for a one- night stand to try and take away the pain of his memories of a fallen comrade. As a special forces soldier he knows that relationships never work out in his line of work. When he sees
the brunette at the end of the bar she holds his attention but it's obvious that she isn't the one night type. Photographer Rorie Lindsay comes to the bar with her friends to celebrate. Today is not only Rorie's birthday but also the day her divorce becomes final. Her ex was an abusive man who did his best to undermine Rorie's self-esteem. She never expects to end up at Tom's house and in his bed. What follows is the most passionate night that either has ever experienced. Even though Tom wants to get to know Rorie better and spend more time with her, but experiences with her ex-husband make Rorie feel like she's not ready for a relationship. In the morning she sneaks out without giving Tom any information on how to find her. Leaving the country on a job, Rorie finds herself being held by rebels. Tom's Special Forces unit is sent in to rescue her and her companions. When things go wrong with the rescue, Tom and Rorie find themselves on the run, being held captive and falling in love. Even after they admit their love, each is faced with dealing with personal demons before they can commit to having a relationship with each other. On Danger's Edge is loaded with romance, danger, and intriguing secondary characters that I want to see again the future. Rorie is a heroine who is fighting to find her true self after a marriage that left her questioning her own self worth. Tom is a hero who really wants Rorie's love but is torn because the demands of his job don't make him good marriage material. Throw in action, danger, and a run through a jungle and On Danger's Edge is an entertaining reading for any romance fan. Originally published by another publisher and now being offered by Cerridwen, On Danger's Edge was intended to be the first in Lisa Fuller's Dangerous Encounter Series when it was originally offered. I can only hope that rest of the series will be coming soon from Cerridwen. I'll be waiting anxiously the next addition to what looks to be a must read series. Melissa reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

I couldn't put this one down. The plot was fast moving and the characters were believable. Couldn't we all use a hunk like Tom Mcallum.

Loved this book!
The hero and heroine are fully developed and stay true to their character. Tom's character is a little typical to me (maybe because I read so many alpha-male-type stories)... but I loved him all the same. He's overly protective, stubborn, and guilt ridden. He's also honest, brave, encouraging, and patient. Something about his tatoo rang true to me. Such a small detail, but the expanation behind it really seemed to flesh his character out all the more. And I can honest to goodness picture his dimples! Rorie, to me, was the star of the book. God I loved her sense of humor! We meet her two years after leaving her abusive husband, even though the divorce is just finalized. She has none of the 'flinching away from a man's touch' demons that are usually inserted in these types of heroines because she has been to therapy and is, when we first meet her, starting to take control of her life. Because of this- we get a heroine who stubbornly tries to do for herself, even when she is completely out of her element, yet we can still sense a little vulnerability. This clash of wills between the H/h provides some great dialogue, comedic moments, and of course drama. It all boils down to trusting herself... There were a few twists and turns in this story which kept me engaged. We're also treated to a full ending after the final resolution and not some quickie HEA. What a treat! I plan on looking for more from this author immediately! Definitely a re-reader! Highly recommended :)

Too stupid to live,

This review is from: On Danger's Edge (Paperback)
I bought this book because of the sterling reviews the book and the author received. I've rarely been this disappointed. H/h, both struggling with issues, meet at a bar, go home together, have sex, part ways. He is instantly smitten with her; she's wary. She's a photojournalist who is coming out of a nasty, abusive marriage, and determined to be independent. He is second in command of an army special forces team. After their one night of supposedly mind blowing sex, she traipses off to South America on a photo shoot, gets kidnapped, and her "prince" subsequently rescues her. They get stranded in the jungle and proceed to try to make their way to the next pickup spot. She either questions or outright defies his every decision in her bid to never again let anyone tell her what to do. Each and every time!! Ad nauseum. At some point, this whiny "alpha" hero who struggles to think with his primary brain and not the one below his belt should have gagged her and tied her to a tree until he could get additonal help in getting them out of the jungle. Or better yet, just tie her there and leave her to argue with the tree! I threw this book in the trash.
