It's just so unfortunate that Boorstin has fallen out of fashion because of his conservative, constructive approach to history. This is history writ LARGE.
This book is an exhilarating read that will make you nod in agreement, or at least appreciation. You can't read Boorstin without respect for his ability to raise an eyebrow, or his getting to the heart of the matter in as few words as possible. A renaissance man and modern-day Jefferson, Boorstin is our Norman Davies. Read him. |
