I was immediately impressed by the build quality and the solid heaviness of the knife. It has great balance and is very easy to control. The handle has a nice subtle bulge in the middle that fits the palm perfectly. The handle on this knife is better than all the other knives I've ever owned - Henckels Pro S, Global, Shun. The blade is very solid and doesn't flex. At least out of the box, it is extremely sharp and cuts through bread with minimal effort. UPDATE: After 2 years of use, the blade has dulled considerably with use but the handle still feels great. I would consider purchasing a knife with a harder steel in the future like the Shun's.

Exquisite design and execution. The non-slip handle is pleasing to the eye as well as the hand. Notably it's heftier and ergonomically shaped so that slippage is significantly minimalized. This heftier design combined with a real shaped bolster and not a simple stamped sheet as is so common, even with Wusthof and Victorinox, make for a very steady, stable cutting experience. When you handle the toughest country French bread, the round ones with the substantial crust for the uninitiated, you cut the bread and not your pinkies. I've bought several for myself and as confident gifts.
