Attractive enough to cook and then serve from, this 12-inch oval roasting pan is the ideal size to roast a whole 4-pound chicken, bake a creamy turnip gratin, or brown a shallow fruit crumble. Made by prestigious French cookware manufacturer Sabatier under the Daniel Boulud Kitchen label, this pan is constructed of heavy cast iron, which absorbs and transfers heat evenly for slow uniform cooking of meats and vegetables. The pan is coated with durable enamel in vivid color on the exterior side and white on the interior for a lifetime of protection and for easier cleaning. The original cast-iron surface peeks through along the rim of the pan to more closely resemble rustic French countryside pottery from generations past. Sturdy ridged handles prevent slipping but do require potholders as the cast iron retains the oven’s heat. All Daniel Boulud Kitchen cookware is dishwasher-safe.

This enamelled cast iron roaster conducts heat evenly and it's slick surface cleans easily. I have roasted 5# chickens and they fit neatly in the oval shape. Great bargain. I am looking for a larger version for more ambitious meat and vegetable dishes.

Since this pan arrived we've hardly used any of our other roasting pans. It's a good size for dinner-for-two. Unfortunately I received a color other than what I ordered, but Amazon was very courteous about the error, so I don't consider it a problem. It's a nice looking, comfortable to handle, sturdy pan, and cleans up very nicely.
