5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bible Study for studying Daniel
I am really pleased with this study guide. There are introductory descriptions of what is happening in each chapter of Daniel. Then there is a translation of the chapter, and verse by verse study notes (which no doubt were later inserted into the MacArthur Study Bible).

But the best part of the study would have to b the excellent questions. There is always an...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bible Study for studying Daniel, November 16, 2006
This review is from: Daniel: God's Control Over Rulers and Nations (MacArthur Bible Studies) (Paperback)

There is always an introductory question that gets you thinking about some of the material in the chapter. then there are content oriented questions then application oriented questions.

I have used Max Lucado's study on Daniel in the past, but it cannot even begin to compare with the richness of this study. This is the best study guide on Daniel I have come across. I am looking forward to using it for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A look at the Past and Future, December 8, 2008
The Book of Daniel was just completed by our men's Bible study. These MacArthur studies are great because they allow lots of discussion on the Bible subject as well as current and introspective topics. Daniel, in particular, was a wonderful study for the absolute miracle of his prophesy. Current readers suddenly realize the fantastic depth and scope of these prophesies, which reach forward hundreds of years from the time they were written in the 6th century BC and are all completed except for those of the Antichrist. This book will astound you! This book is not just about Daniel and the lions den. This is about prophesy that co-responds with the Book of Revelation. I also recommend the commentary on Daniel by Phillips and Vines.

Of note to reader; I was looking at the theme of international relations, how God uses Christian leaders in secular governments.

The Book of Daniel is the biggest example in the Old Testament of God's control and power in the scheme of international relations. God not only told Daniel all the was to happen, he placed the events in light of Christ's second coming, in relation to the whole strand of history, Jesus himself.

MacAuthor veils his thoughts on politics but suggests that when the world moves towards more liberal internationalism, trans-governmentalism, that is a sign of the end times. Those are the tools of the anti-Christ. Does that mean we should fear and oppose such international relations? I don't think so. God used guns, fruit, theocracies, democracies, tangibles and intangible ideas as tools for his will and even justice. We don't avoid those objects. Liberal internationalism may hold a few positive points for global communication leading to peace and justice in many areas. Daniel was the man God used to portray this message. MacAuthor did not spend much time at all on Daniel's leadership qualities or impact in government and politics.

I am very satisfied with the product I received. It was in great shape. My only complaint is that since I ordered two books from the company and both books shipped in the same envelope, I would have liked to only pay one shipping price, especially since I will probably want to buy from this company again.
