Great Book. Loved illustrations of how this process affected their lives. How to information is great! Would love a little more information on what is allowed, but overall, is a fantastic book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Are you sure about this book?
I did not purchase this book, read below why.

I decided to look inside the book and on page 16 it states and i quote, "Today, as Christians we live under grace, so we are no longer required to fast."

However the "New Covenant" states:(New Covenant is the correct term, not testament)

1 Cor 7:5 (KJV) Defraud ye not the one the other,...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Daniel Fast For Spiritual Breakthrough, February 25, 2011
This review is from: The Daniel Fast for Spiritual Breakthrough (Paperback)
"The Daniel Fast For Spiritual Breakthrough" by Elmer Towns is a delightful read for anyone wishing to pursue the Christian discipline of fasting.

Fasting may be defined as deliberately abstaining from something for a period of time in order to draw closer to God and to know Him more intimately. The person may fast from: television (not limited to food), a particular kind of food (dessert, for example), sport, hobby, or anything else.

Among the topics covered include:

1. Different kinds of fast.
2. Primary focus of a Daniel fast.
3. Preparing for a fast (how long, what to abstain from, etc.).
4. Definition of fasting.
5. A 21-day reading plan you may use during a fast.

The book is informative and will challenge and encourage you to consider a fast as a means for drawing closer to the Lord. I have periodically fasted during my 20+ years of walking with Christ and can attest to its power. I recently had a 3-day fast from lunch, radio, and television and benefitted spiritually.

Sometime ago I took a seminary class with Dr. Towns at Liberty University and thoroughly enjoyed the class. The book reads just as he teaches - entertaining, spiritually insightful, humble, and challenging.

Highly recommended.

This review is from: The Daniel Fast for Spiritual Breakthrough (Paperback)
This book truly help shed light on why and how to fast. I've been on fast before and did not experience the same as I did because I was fasting for the wrong reasons. This book walks with you daily. Weather you are doing a 10 day or 21 day. Very insightful and bibilical.
