5.0 out of 5 stars Pinkham's Best Orchestral and Instrumental Works, February 9, 2000

This review is from: Daniel Pinkham: Serenades for Solos Trumpet & Wind Ensembles; Symphonies No. 3 & 4, etc. (Audio CD)
This is one of the finest recordings available of Daniel Pinkham's works for instrumental/orchestral forces. Primarily known for his choral and organ music, Pinkham is a significant and highly individual voice. This recording showcases two of his more recent symphonies along with a trumpet concerto and organ concerto. These fine, well-crafted pieces all display Pinkham's highly personal harmonic language: a dissonant countrapuntal sense governed by a strong tonal underpinning.

This is an excellent recording of these too infrequently played works which would be enjoyed by anyone.
