Book Description

Daniel X July 27, 2009
All's quiet in the small town of Holliswood, the television sets a-glow in every home. But not all is as perfect as it seems.

A terrifying outlaw has just arrived in town, with the goal of throwing it into chaos--and filming the pandemonium for the fellas back home.

Only one person can stop him and his thugs from destroying the city and everyone living there. Daniel X assembles an all-star team of his own creation, but not even he could imagine the enormity of this made-for-TV-villain's powers.

About the Author

James Patterson is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of many books, including the blockbuster series Maximum Ride. More than 100 million of his books are in print around the world, making him one of the top-selling writers of all time.

Ned Rust lives in Croton, NY, with his family. His writing has appeared in Rolling Stone and McSweeney's Internet Tendency.

From AudioFile

James Patterson's latest release for young adults chronicles the adventures of 14-year-old Daniel X, who is chasing down intergalactic aliens who are trying to destroy the human population. Milo Ventimiglia is convincing as a teenage boy with superpowers except for the times when he slows down his reading to a maddening pace. Music, blasts from ray guns, and other sound effects will appeal to younger listeners, but the pervasive references to popular culture will date this story quickly and will drive off some listeners. Ventimiglia creates a believable character in Daniel as he argues with his little sister, adopts a stray dog, develops a crush, and tries to make the world a better place. 5.0 out of 5 stars Teenage boys and long trips, October 6, 2009
This review is from: Daniel X: Watch the Skies (Audio CD)
I was desperately looking for something to listen to in the car on a long road trip with my two teenage and one pre-teen sons. I stumbled across this audio CD while rushing through the store for other lost essentials on the way out of town and grabbed it on the fly.

What a great choice! My boys loved it and actually "shushed" me several times during the story, so they could hear! There's no bad language or horrible violence (don't get me wrong... there is violence, just not the terrible kind so many books tote). It was funny and age appropriate. You even caught us all saying the same name to each other when the author is describing certain teen profiles. Anything that helps a parent bond with their teen is a good thing. On a long car trip... even better!

I've even ordered the first book on audio, so our next long trip will be just as much fun. :-) Thank you Mr. Patterson & Mr. Rust for providing such great teen humor, and thank you Mr Ventimiglia (my favorite hero) for such a great reading too!

5.0 out of 5 stars A thrill ride from start to finish, highly recommended, August 13, 2009
This review is from: Daniel X: Watch the Skies (Audio CD)
Bestselling mystery author James Patterson and "Rolling Stone" magazine writer Ned Rust team up to present Daniel X Watch the Skies, an unabridged audiobook adventure pitting Daniel X against a virtually demonic television personality whose drive for fame endangers the population of a town - and potentially much more. The whole world is at risk from the villain's desire for an extreme grand finale, and Daniel himself braves danger at every turn in a desperate attempt to stop the devastation! A thrill ride from start to finish, highly recommended. 4 CDs, 4.5 hours.

This review is from: Daniel X: Watch the Skies (Audio CD)
We read the first book as a family. We took the book on CD with us on a road trip over Thanksgiving. It and other CD books made the drive much less tiring. Oh, and the story is just plain fun form my 2 pre-teen children and me.
