Book Description

Silhouette Special Edition August 1, 2003

"THIS TIME WE'RE AIMING FOR FOREVER...."

When a runaway teen surfaced at Molly Creighton's tavern, Daniel Devaney's job as a child advocate forced him to investigate...and to confront his tumultuous past with Molly. Though a tragic loss had shattered their relationship four years ago, Daniel was now ready to accept responsibility for their breakup and make a fresh start.

Their overwhelming attraction was undulled by time, but Molly feared risking her heart again. Yet Daniel vowed to banish the shadows from her eyes and prove he was the man she needed him to be. And with his brothers and parents at last reconciled, Daniel's deepest longing--for family--was almost fulfilled....

More About the Author

With her roots firmly planted in the South, Sherryl Woods has written many of her more than 100 books in that distinctive setting, whether her home state of Virginia, her adopted state, Florida, or her much-adored South Carolina. She's also especially partial to small towns wherever they may be. In Amazing Gracie, as in her later Trinity Harbor series, Woods creates a fictional version of the town where she spends summers on the shores of the Potomac River. "This town just lends itself to fascinating characters and a charming locale," she says.

A member of Novelists Inc., Sisters in Crime and Romance Writers of America, Sherryl divides her time between her childhood summer home overlooking the Potomac River in Colonial Beach, Virginia, and her oceanfront home with its lighthouse view, in Key Biscayne, Florida. "Wherever I am, if there's no water in sight, I get a little antsy," she says.

Sherryl also loves hearing from readers. You can join her at her blog, www.justbetweenfriendsblog.com, visit her Web site at www.sherrylwoods.com or contact her directly at Sherryl703@gmail.com.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good reading, August 9, 2003
This review is from: Daniel's Desire (Silhouette Special Edition No. 1555) (Mass Market Paperback)
You really can't go wrong with a Sherryl Woods book. The last book in the Devaneys series, Daniel deals with mistakes made in the past with his old love, a runaway who won't explain why she ran and his parents reasoning for abandoning his brothers. I have to admit I did not like the story behind the abandonment. After it was explained I felt that the parents love for each other was more important than their children. But overall a very good read!

I already had one of the Devaney books. When I realized that it was one of five in a series, I ordered the other four. I received all four in a very timely manner. They arrived in very good condition. I finished reading all five and thoroughly enjoyed each book of the five bothers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good romance.....but a little far-fetched!, August 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Even though I enjoyed this book and liked the romantic plot of Molly and Daniel rekindling their old relationship, there were parts to the story that were a little far-fetched. For one thing, Kendra, the runaway would never say what made her run from home. Molly seemed liked too sensible of a person to not try and get the real reason for Kendra running away. The book went on and on, never settling this point to the very end, and it was not really believable that Daniel, the child advocate and the policeman would continue delaying the return of Kendra to her waiting and anxious parents. And then, when the truth came out why she ran away, it was like......"is that it?".....a simple conversation between the girl and her parents could have resolved the problem.

Also, the whole reason that Daniel's parents abandoned the three brothers that he and Patrick had never known....seemed ridiculous and cruel. If you were financially trapped, wouldn't you give up to adoption the two newborn twins who would grow up knowing a set of parents that were chosen from their birth....instead of giving up three older children who knew and loved their real parents and were abandoned one day without explanation. That part of the story did NOT work well for me. Even given the explanation, I thought it was "weak". Somehow, though, this book is still a "good read" just with some "issues".
