You would think that when you spend 8 bucks on a hand tool that it would only go but so far. Turns out that one of the biggest misconceptions out there ( price determines value ) were proven not to be true when I opened the package that held this " magic wand." ( my new favorite tool ). This dough whisk is so powerful at whipping up any cookie dough or heavy dough mixture out there. I wasn't sure why I purchased it when I did but I'm glad that I did, it's so sturdy and the wooden handle ensures a firm grip ( very important ) when mixing any tough mixture by hand. The flat wire contraption that makes up the whisk scrapes evenly and effortlessly as well. WARNING - I would not recommend mixing more than 2 or 3 quarts of dough at a time with this dough whisk for fear of breaking the handle. If you feel firm pressure in your arms when stirring I would divide the batter evenly or until the whisk can pass freely through whatever you're making with ease. After all it's just a hand tool and for large amounts I would recommend using a hand or stand mixer with a dough hook attachment. I plan on ordering another on so my girls can each have one when we make cookies.

This gadget is great! I started making bread about 6 months ago for fun mostly. I don't have a mixer and mixing the dough with a spoon has always been difficult. Usually I turn the dough out on a board and mix the last bit with my hands. For the first time I was able to mix the dough completely in the bowl!

This whisk is huge and it really has sped up the process of mixing dough. I mix double-batches of dough (at least four quarts of dough) and it's tough work with a wooden spoon. This dough whisk really makes it go faster. The whisk cuts through the dry & wet ingredients and mixes them very evenly. Mixing is still a chore, but it isn't as hard with this whisk as it was with a spoon.

The design is clever and durable and it's easy to clean.

The whisk is made in Poland and seems to be very well built. Hopefully it will last for years.

EDIT (5/27): The more I use this whisk, the more I love it. This is a MUST HAVE for any home baker.

This dough whisk is wonderful. I didn't know know how much I would use it, but it make a huge difference in my kitchen. It is less work and effort on my part. It looks so cool too in my tool arsenal. It has the look of an old item that has been handed done for years. Simple but ever so useful. It does a great job incorporating all the ingredients with much less effort on my part.

This dough whisk is a miracle. It makes mixing dough very easy. Compared to other whisks, this is completely out of their league! Anything that saves time in my day deserves 5 stars!

There are only two issues with this (for me). One is that I have are that the wood does start to irritate my hands during long mixing sessions. It's nice that this is natural and all but wood can get corrosive after some time, especially since the handle is pretty thick. The other one is that I would advocate possibly getting a smaller size. I didn't think about the size (so it's my fault) and naturally went for the biggest size for a few extra cents. I hope you get the right size because this really is a tool I began using plenty since I make a lot of dough. It doesn't work too well on liquid though or anything like that (if you are curious).

PROS: Easy to use, saves time, natural wood
CONS: Irritates hands due to wood, harder to wash wood than plastic, thick handle, the large size is way too large for me

Most of the cons are to be expected though, so I would have given this product five stars in a smaller size (and I would personally prefer plastic).

EDIT: I forgot to add that the stainless steel end is easy to clean, this works much better on light doughs than stiff ones (though it can do both) and that you may have to squeeze the dough into a ball with your hands at the end anyway (it does leave stiffer doughs slightly in scraps).

I recently bought a large Danish Dough Whisk. I've been baking more and more frequently, especially artisan loaves, and don't have a heavy-duty mixer. So, hand-stirred it is, and my old joints find this hard, especially with large batches.
The whisk (held close to the metal twists) really impressed me with the ability to completely combine wet and dry ingredients prior to kneading. Yes, I'd rather have a Kitchen Aid but this is far less expensive, and I don't mind kneading. Get your self one! I believe you'll enjoy it.

This is a great whisk. I almost ordered the smaller size, but am really glad I went with the "Large" as it seems a perfect tool for mixing by hand. I bought it to mix my artisan bread dough (yes, it's AB5 bread) because I got tired of dragging out my heavy Kitchenaid mixer to mix it. It mixes up the ingredients in a jiffy and also worked well to incorporate caraway seeds into rye dough. I've also used it to mix cookie dough. Beats that wooden spoon in a minute! Cleans up easily and seems really well made to last many years.

This dough whisk could possibly be designed better, but not much. I say that because it does the job of mixing the dough, salt, yeast, etc. well enough, and is sturdily built so when the water is added and things get tougher, there is absolutely no fear of the handle breaking or the wire bending, which was a concern when I bought it.

Very, very heavy duty wood and wire stand up to hard use. Once the water is added fully (best to work it in very slowly until most water is added, then when it gets doughy, add the rest) and stirring is more like mixing, you can use the whisk sideways so it cuts through the dough as it is all but impossible to "whisk" wet, heavy dough. At first, I thought it was not a good product because I tried to get all the way through the process using the technique I started with; i.e. "whisking" the dough, and figured that if it didn't do the entire process I could use a regular wire whisk to mix the dry ingredients and do the rest of the wet mixing by hand, but then I realized that once the dough becomes "dough", you just can't expect to be able to whisk it. Using a regular whisk wouldn't get you through the whole process, but this actually does; you just have to adjust the process as you go along with the mixing from dry flour to wet dough. A sideways cutting motion will continue to mix the dough and gets the ingredients nicely combined. I use a "no-knead" bread recipe, so there is no need (no pun intended... really) to try to knead the bread with this whisk. That would certainly be a fail for this item, but I can't see this being meant as a kneading tool anyway, so I think it really serves its purpose very well.

The price, usefulness and high quality of workmanship of the product make it a great deal.
