The previous 1 star review is way off. He doesn't know anything about poppies. The Danish Flag is the exact same species of poppy grown in Afghanistan and elsewhere. This is a variety of an Afghani cultivar of the papaver somniferum bred for it's coloration. It's only called Danish Flag because of the colors and cross. But if he's ever seen a classic Afghan poppy he'd see the pattern is exactly the same, the red is just a lot redder in the Danish Flag variety.The Danish Flag is easy to grow as long as it has decent soil, enough space, full sun, and fairly dry conditions around flowering. Plant in the late Fall or early Spring. At germination and lettuce stage they prefer a shorter 12 hour day, at flowering they prefer a 16 hr or longer daytime. Try to plant where you intend to grow, they hate transplanting, and it will stunt their growth. Can be grown in pots with varying results depending on the pot's size. Keep them well drained. Plant by broadcasting in a soft flower bed, or tamp into soft soil, and thin the runts a couple weeks after sprouting. The seedlings are fairly resistant to frost and snow and thrive under cool conditions, the flowers and seed pods like bright sun and dry conditions.

The seller shipped my seeds quickly. When i recieved them i didnt have any seed starter so i planted a few in some mulch and they sprouted really quick. ofcourse the mulch isnt good for growing seeds but they sprouted and grew. Great seeds. I Can highly recommend this seller and these seeds.

I bought three different types of poppies from this vendor, and I think the service merits that I post the review for each purchase.I ordered Danish Flag, Turkish Black, and Peshawar White seeds. I haven't grown them yet, so I will come back to write reviews after I have. But so far, I have been pleased that: 1. The package arrived three days earlier than anticipated. 2. It came in a bubble-wrapped envelope, and each of the seed packets were labelled. 3. The order was hand-signed and personalized. 4. I received a bonus packet of seeds (Papaver Rhoeas.) I literally got more than I expected; I would rate it six stars if I could.
