It's a Really Good CD,
This review is from: Danity Kane (Audio CD)
It would be easy for me to just say "I Like It," and bounce because I enjoyed it that much.
Danity Kane won a legion of fans thanks to appearing on the MTV series Making The Band Three. The group recently released their debut self-titled CD. The group is a certified smash hit, they sold 90,000 copies of their album on the first day of release! The CD is really good. How could the girls miss with Diddy overseeing the project. He hooked up his lovely MTV reality star ladies with the hottest producers and song writers in the industry. The result is a solid 15 track CD, one song is a hidden bonus track. Fans of the show will like this CD because it will give them a chance to hear the completed versions of songs they saw the girls working on during the series. "One Shot," "Hold Me Down," "Ride For You," and the Scott Storch produced song "Sleep On It," are all songs viewers got to see the girls working on during the third season of Making The Band Three. Every song on the album sounds solid. It's surprising that "Show Stopper" was chosen as the first single. Obviously, the song has caught on with the Danity Kane fans as it is a top download on iTunes. Other Danity Kane songs that are on the iTunes top 100 chart include "Sleep on It," "Ride For You," and "One Shot." It's a really great debut from the girls of Danity Kane. The CD liner notes include full color photos and one page acknowledgements from each of the group members--Dawn, Aubrey, D. Woods, Shannon and Aundrea. The album includes production by Scott Storch, Ryan Leslie, Timbaland, Brian Michael Cox, Rodney Jerkins among other top producers.

This review is from: Danity Kane (Audio CD)
I wasn't an original follower of the band but after seeing a few episodes of Making the Band 3, I got hooked on them, specially Aundrea. My album arrived the same day that my Jessica Simpson C.D. arrived. I opted to listen to Jessica's first because I knew if I listened to Danity Kane first I would be extremely dissapointed in Jessica. Well, here's my opinion on every song:
1-"One Shot" (3.5/5) I like this song but I feel there are better songs than this one in the album. 2-"Heartbreaker" (3/5) I don't care much for this song. It could have been left out of the c.d. Makes no difference 2 me. 3-"Want It" (5/5) I absolutely love this song. For some reason I CANNOT stop listening to it. Its lyrics and beat are just FABULOUS! It is definitely a potential single. 4-"Right Now" (5/5) OMG! Boy, do I love this song! The smooth vocals and hot beat make this song a winner and another possible single. It is magnificent! 5-"Show Stopper" (5/5) At first, I was a little bit iffy when it came to this song. Honestly, there are better songs on the album that could have been the girls' first single, but it has grown into me and I absolutely adore it. 6-"Hold Me Down" (5/5) Aundrea's fabulous vocals make this song what it is! Great beat, great lyrics... great song. HIGHLIGHT: Aundrea's vocals in the 3rd verse. 7-"Come Over (Interlude)" (4.5/5) Oddly enough, this is a pretty good interlude. They should have made it into a complete song though. 8-"Ooh Ahh" (5/5) I absolutely loooove this song. The lyrics and vocals are as good as they can get in this song. Wonderful! 9-"Press Pause" (2.5/5) I pretty much don't like this song whatsoever. Its lyrics are weak and the beat doesn't do much for me. Could have definitely kept this out of the album. 10-"Ain't True (Interlude)" (1/5) I don't know what this interlude has to do with the album whatsoever. It simply doesn't suit these girls. Should have DEFINITELY kept this out of the c.d. 11-"Ride For You" (5/5) Listening to Aundrea record her part in this song on the tv show was just amazing. Hearing the finished product is a wonderful experience within itself. Wonderful lyrics, great vocals. I looove the 1st verse and bridge. Great! 12-"Touching My Body" (3.5/5) This song is ok. On or off the album, doesn't matter. It isn't a standout track. 13-"Back Up" (2.5/5) Ok, I have no idea what the girls are talking about in this song. And the lyrics are nowhere to be found, so that makes it even worse. This song should not have been recorded, much less put on the album. 14-"Stay With Me" (5/5) When I first heard a clip of this song, I was awed by the beautiful first verse and chorus. After hearing it completely, I absolutely adore it! I just wish I knew if it is Aundrea or D. Woods that sings in the 1st verse. Maybe someone can answer that 4 me. Anyways, incredible lyrics, beautiful vocals make this song a favorite. 15-"Sleep On It" (5/5) I love it. Why it is not on the track listing, is beyond me. But once again, Scott Storch does something amazing. The girls put in their talent, and the song is incredible. Overall, a very good album. I didn't think it'd be this good. Only thing I dislike about this c.d. is the fact that Shannon is barely heard. Why? I do not know. I am sure her voice is just as good as the rest of the girls, therefore I hope to hear her A LOT more when their 2nd album drops. Buy this album, you WON'T regre it. Go Danity Kane! MY FAVES: "Want It", "Right Now", "Show Stopper", "Hold Me Down", "Ooh Ahh", "Ride For You", "Stay With Me", "Sleep On It" ON SKIP: "Press Pause", "Ain't True (Interlude)", "Back Up"

Best Female Group Ever!,
By
This review is from: Danity Kane (Audio CD)
First of all I'd like to start by saying that "Scooter" probably didn't even listen to this album, and if he did, he really doesn't know much about music. Yes, they do have 5 lead singers, that is what makes them unique. And if you paid any attention at all you would know that they CAN harmonize...very well in fact. Saying that all of the songs sound the same just tells me that you don't enjoy this type of music to begin with. Are you kidding me? There is a HUGE variety on this album. A couple slow ballads, some uptempo beats, and some that are in-between. They don't sound alike at all! We're talking about world-class producers on this album, such as Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Bryan Cox, and Scott Storch. All of these guys know how to make hit records, and they have the platinum albums to prove it. Hip hop and pop instrumentals are mainly created electronically...that's just the way the industry has gone. That doesn't mean these guys don't have talent. I'd like to see you make a hit record. Oh, and if you weren't ignorant you would know that there are only 2 white girls in this group. Now moving on to my review...
1. One Shot (****1/2) - I like the beat, the vocals are great, but I'm not sure if it's worthy of being a single. It just doesn't have the mainstream appeal. However, that's because it's a unique track. 2. Heartbreaker (***1/2) - I don't like the lyrics in this song, lol. I don't want them to say they're going to break my heart! The beat is pretty good, but again I don't feel this track is worthy of a single. 3. Want It (****1/2) - Love the beat, love the vocals, and the lyrics are good, too. This could catch on as a single...I'm sure there are many females out there who can relate to another girl trying to steal their man! 4. Right Now (*****) - I love this song! This may be the hottest beat I've ever heard from Timbaland! I love the vocals, and the lyrics. I love the intimate feel with more of an up-tempo track...very unique. This song is sexy! 5. Show Stopper (****1/2) - It took a while for this song to grow on me. The lyrics are so-so. I think it's just a little too typical hip-hop for these girls. I get tired of rappers talking about their cars and money all the time. But this is a great song to "snap dance" to, and that is what's hot right now! I wish they would've had Yung Joc on the album version. 6. Hold Me Down (*****) - This is a solid 5 stars, probably my favorite song on the album. It's basically Aundrea's song! It is a great display of their vocal talent, the beat is hot, and the lyrics are great! This is definitely worthy of a single! 7. Come Over Interlude (****1/2) - I can't give an interlude 5 stars, but I love this one! Yes, I would love to come over! It has a calm, soothing, intimate feel to it...perfect! 8. Ooh Ahh (*****) - Another single worthy track in my opinion. Upbeat, but still kinda chill. Just has a mainstream feel to it, so I think it would be a hit. The lyrics are good, and of course the vocals are great, as always! It is a little short, though. 9. Press Pause (****1/2) - I love the beat, again it's up-tempo, but still has a relaxing feel to it. I love the lyrics and the vocals. This could possibly be a single, but once again it's kind of short. 10. Ain't True Interlude (***) - Not sure about this one. Who wrote this? It just doesn't fit the image these girls should have. I hope none of them would cheat! Still, it has great vocals, and a smooth beat. 11. Ride For You (*****) - This song really displays the vocal talent of these girls. The track is very intimate and beautiful. This is definitely a hit, and should definitely be a single! The lyrics are great, and as we saw from the show, this works well in a live, intimate setting. 12. Touching My Body (*****) - I still love this song! This one makes me wanna get up and dance more than any other track on the album. The beat is unique, and it's great! I love the lyrics, and of course the vocals are great! 13. Back Up (***) - I'm just not sure about this one. I'm not really feelin the beat. It doesn't go with the rest of the tracks on the album. It has kind of an old school feel to it. I do like the lyrics and the vocals. If I were the producer, I'd put a different beat on it. 14. Stay With Me (*****) - Another slow ballad that is really beautiful! This should be a single. It is definitely a hit! The lyrics are great, the vocals are great, and so is the instrumental. This is a great love song. 15. Sleep On It (*****) - This song feels right as the last track on the album. I love the beat, and the vocals are great. Dawn's bridge really makes the song. It's a great song for the album, not sure if it would do well as a single though. Danity Kane (*****) I'm no professional critic or anything, but this album easily gets 5 stars from me! It's rare to have an album where every song is good. I own several CD's where I only like 5 or 6 songs, and it seems the norm for a lot of albums to have a few songs that seem like fillers. This one is an exception for sure. An excellent debut, and I don't think it'll take very long for this album to go platinum. The beats are all unique, and a group with 5 lead singers is very unique. They all complement each other well, and they are all extremely talented. Every one of the girls can bring a little bit of a different feel to every track. It's a pop group with a hip-hop edge. Call it hip-pop! It has a little bit of everything. Up-tempo songs to get up and dance to, up-tempo yet relaxing songs to chill to, and beautiful slow ballads to cuddle up with your significant other to!

Perfection,

My title pretty much speaks for itself. This album is INCREDIBLE. I guess I'll write a song by song review...
One Shot 4/5 - This is the theme song of Making The Band 3 during the third season. It has kind of a middle-eastern vibe to it but it is upbeat and fun to dance to. Heartbreaker 5/5 - Definitely one of my faves. The girl power song on the CD. It has lots of guitar and a different kind of vibe to it. The kind of song you would play in the car with all your girls. Want It 3/5 - Not one of my faves but definitely a good song. Very R&B-ish. Right now 10/5 - THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM! Timbaland killed this beat... It's incredible. Lot's of drums in the background and the vocals are so good. It's about wanting to take it to the next level with a guy but they can't. I love this freakin' song. LoL Always on repeat. Show Stopper 4/5 - We all know this song. The most urban song on the album. Hold Me Down 5/5 - I like this song so much because Aundrea sounds great in it. Definitely her stand out track. Come Over Interlude 5/5 - I like the beat. Kinda slow and "whispery". Ohh Ahh 5/5 - Pretty short. Sounds like it is more of a little interlude rather than a full song but I still love it. They all sound great. Talks about a guy making them say "ohh ahh" when they're with him or when he touches them. Press Pause 4/5 - Very "pop". Reminds me of something Britney Spears would sing like her song "Anticipating". The main difference is that... They can actually sing. LoL Ain't True Interlude 3/5 - Very much R&B. Really slow and mellow. Ride For You 5/5 - A pretty love song. If you watched the show then you've heard them sing it. They all sound so good in this song. Touching My Body 5/5 - Pretty much the same from the show except Dawn adds a little bit more in the song. I liked the show version better but I still love the song. Back Up 3/5 - This is a good song, it just hasn't caught onto me yet. The beat is kinda plain to me. Stay With Me 5/5 - Such a pretty song. It's slow and vocals are beautiful. Dawn sounds so nice in this song. Sleep On It(Bonus Track) 5/5 - Has a southern feel to it and produced by Scott Storch so you know it's a hot song. I just don't like the high pitched opera type singing in the verses. But I love D. Woods part. She makes the song, in my opinion. I hope this helped you guys out. Not just one hit wonders, these girls are gonna make it. Hopefully Grammy's because this CD is Grammy worthy.

Surprisingly Good,

I must be one of the only people to love "Press Pause," but that's ok.
This is the most solid album I've heard in a long time. It's not super creative, it doesn't push the boundaries of the genre- it just does R&B very, very well. Every track is enjoyable, and most of the ones I didn't like at first have grown on me. The harmonies are tight- which is great to hear because it's an actual group and not a "group" where one becomes the frontwoman. The best part, and what I didn't expect, is the lack of guest rappers. Maybe they'll do something different on the singles, but for the album to be so...clean, it's really nice.

I would first like to say - "What a suprise!" I really didn't think that this CD would be good but I love it. I played the whole thing staight and I love the beats, singing, and lyrics. I only brought it because I love the show and enjoys the singles that they played on the show (so I knew I would like at least like half). But to my surprise they were holding some of the good tracks for the CD and downloads. I think that this is a most have CD, the girls really did their "Thang". LOVE IT!

Very STONG Debut,

Danity Kane is the latest product of MTV's Making The Band. 5 beautiful girls hand picked by Diddy himself and signed to his own Bad Boy label. Though I never watched the show, I was intrigued by them after seeing the video for their first single: "Showstopper".
At first glance they have it all: beauty, perfect bodies, dance moves and a record deal on a major label. But, wait, it runs deeper than that. They can ALL sing! Not just 2 of them while the other 3 dance in the background, no, they ALL sing...and sing well. So, yea, they are a product of yet ANOTHER TV reality show (sigh) but there is something to them. Their debut is great! It blends Pop, R&B and hip/hop. The girls have great harmonies as well as great individual voices. Backed with a great production team that churn out amazing beats this is an A+ product. 1. "One Shot" - Not the best opener but, not horrible either. Their voices are great. Not too crazy about the lryics. The hook/chours seems a bit cheesy to me. Nice tribal-ish beat. 4/5 2. "Heartbreaker" - One of my favorite songs on here!! The harmonies are perfection! Lyrics are raw and the acoustic guitar sample loop is great with the beat!! 5/5 3. "Want It" - An in your face song as far as lyrics go...demanding to know "what the hell you want??" 5/5 4. "Right Now" - Bumpin beat with strong bass. Don't care much for the way DK sings it. They kind of whisper/moan their way through it. Kind of boring. 3/5 5. "Showstopper" - GREAT pick for a first single!!! So ghetto! LOVE IT!!! Makes you want to hit the club!! A++++ 5/5 6. "Hold Me Down" - Another good song for the clubs. Voices are superb with a strong beat!! 5/5 7. "Come Over (Interlude)" - 5/5 8. "Ohh Ahh" - My least favorite song on here. Does not match the other song on here. It's too "fluffy". Too much of a left field song compared to the other strong "street" sounding songs. 2/5 9. "Press Pause" - A nice slow jam. The voices are really shining on this song! GREAT! 5/5 10. "Ride For You" - A beautiful slow ballad with great piano. The girls really shine on the track!! 5/5 11. "Touching My Body" - Funky and very cool. Another club ready song. 5/5 12. "Back Up" - Very cool, classic/live sounding beat. Strong vocals by ALL! 5/5 13. "Stay With Me" - Another breath taking ballad. The best ballad on this set. Amazing piano. Very pretty lyrics and DK's voices are so gorgeous! Such a great melody. 5/5 14. "Sleep On It" - The beat is good. I do not like the way they sing this song. They sing really high-itched during the versus. Almost sounds like a girl group parody. Don't care much for it. 2/5 With this great of a debut, Danity Kane are here to stay. They have it all, with their voices as their biggest weapon! A Must have!

Danity Kane is for real,
By Adrian Lloyd (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Danity Kane (Audio CD)
I must admit that when Diddy came back on MTV with this Making the Band 3 concept I was very skeptical, particularly after "Da Band" flopped and was dismantled after Making the Band 2. Danity Kane however exceeds all initial expectations. When I heard the first song released titled "Showstopper," I was a little disappointed as I did not find that song to be mainstream or likeable enough to persuade the average music listener to want to hear more from this band. Ultimately however, the song grows on you, and the video is incredible.
Now that I have had the chance to listen to the entire album I am pleased to report that it is great and the best tracks are yet to come. "Ride for You" is a ballad produced by Brian Cox which has top 10 single written all over. It's the classic relationship song to which we can all relate to and the ladies harmonize effortlessly over track. This is a potential #1. "Right Now" is a track produced by Timbaland that has an extremely melodic beat and is entrancing. It also has the social awareness that has been missing since TLC broke up. This track also has top 10 potential. "Hold Me Down" is a track produced by Rodney Jerkins which is more pop than R&B. Andrea is FIRE on this track. This song will definitely have your butt wiggling around the seat. This song will get a lot of airplay on Top 40 stations and will be banging at almost every club you walk in to. "Touching My Body" is a track that has a great beat. Very rhythmic. The girls are not great vocally on the track, and the production falls a little short, but overall I expect this track to get plenty of play as well. "Sleep On It" is a much anticipated track from Scott Storch. It has a great beat, but I do not for one second believe that the album version is the version that is going to be getting radio play. Rumor has it that there are "several" remixes to this song, and anyone who watched the show will remember that D. Woods and Aubrey were asked back into the studio to "add" parts to this song. You have to remember that Diddy and Bad Boy "INVENTED THE REMIX"......so watch out b/c the remixed version odf this song is going to be CRAZY! Great first album....Go get it!

I really like this one...,
This review is from: Danity Kane (Audio CD)
I have watched all three seasons of the show and I grew really attached to this group before they released the album so I was going to get it before I heard anything...Now that I have heard it, I love it! I haven't listened to anything else since I got it four days ago. All of the songs have a good beat and all the girls in the group are fantastic singers...It's hard to go wrong! Not including the two interludes, there are only two ballads but they are both beautiful (Stay With Me is my favorite ballad on the album, the other one is Ride For You which is the one that they performed and I think it was called the Village Underground on the show so that one it good too). The other eleven (including the bonus track of Sleep On It) has high beats, they're fun, songs I love to sing along to (though I don't sing as well)! Over all this is a solid album! I would recomend it to anyone who was even thinking about buying it!
