I recently completed the 70kms Overland Track in Tasmania, Australia. The Track commences at Cradle Mountain and we took 6 days to complete. My Danner 453 GTX Outdoor boots were excellent. Through mud, slush, over tree roots, shale stone, boulder stone and through water they didnt let me down. They gave me the support needed, the Goretex liner kept my feet dry and they were comfortable. They were heavier than my mate's hiking boots but that didnt worry me. During the walk my knees caused me some issues and the boots provided much needed support etc. Taking into account I was also carrying an 18kgs pack I was very happy with the boots. Prior to the walk I gave them a couple of sprays with the Ecco brand spray for Goretex and that also worked a treat. If you are thinking about a good well made hiking boot i would recommend the Danner's. The Overland Track in Tasmania can provide some interesting extremes of weather and you need good gear.
