More About the Author

Malachy was born in Ireland, went to college in England, brought up his children in Wales and has now returned to Ireland, where he lives on a tiny island off the coast of County Donegal.
After spells in advertising and as a special needs teacher, Malachy turned to writing children's books. He has now had over 70 published and has won many prizes, including the Parent's Choice Gold Award and the Anne Izard Storytellers' Choice Award (for 'Tales from Old Ireland'), the Nestle Children's Book Silver Award (for 'The Dancing Tiger'), the Tir na nOg Award (for 'Georgie') and the English Association Award (for 'Cow').

This story is about a duck (Danny) who, for some strange reason, doesn't talk. The other hens and ducks in the yard make fun of him for it. He gets fed up with the ridicule and goes off into the woods to find his quack but instead finds two hungry foxes. The foxes make Danny carry their pot and then fill it with water and only when they try to stick Danny in the pot does Danny magically find his voice. He runs back to the yard to tell the others and they help him run the foxes off.

Really not a fan of this book. The message of the book is confusing and I personally don't appreciate all the examples of bullying. This author has over 100 books on Amazon. Some of them are getting great reviews. Maybe try one of those!
