Useful bowl for cereal, pasta, or to serve small amounts,

I purchased these to go with my Dansk Bistro collection, and they blend well (you can't tell the difference between these and my old bowls unless you examine them carefully). The size is just right for oatmeal or cereal, works for soup for lunch (I have flat soup bowls for larger portions), chili, or fruit (!). I also use them often for serving small amounts of food - one 14.5 oz (~400 g) can of vegetables fits perfectly. We serve a lot of hummus, and this bowl is just the right size when 4-6 people are coming to lunch (and hummus isn't the only thing I'm serving).

I have had a set of these dishes for over 12 years. I have broken a few and wanted to replace them. I found out they still make these dishes with a different vendor. I could not see any difference between vendors. Great replacement for what I had missing. If you have this set, then these replacement bowls are great...

My Dansk dishes were purchased several years ago when this company had outlet stores, which have all since closed in California. I read the other reviews regarding these replacement bowls being made by another vendor and made a comparison of one of my older bowls to this new one. They both carry the Dansk Bistro logo on the bottom and indicate they are microwave safe. The older bowl also says International Designs Ltd. NR/ Portugal while the new one says it is dishwasher safe. Obviously, this isn't significant but will tell them apart.
There are two more significant differences, however, which make them lose a star with me. First, the signature deep indigo blue double band at the top of the bowl is noticeably darker on the older bowls than the newer ones. I actually have two of the replacement bowls, one purchased from Amazon and one from the Dansk website. Both of them are clearly lighter on the bands. Second, the diameters of the bowls are different; the older ones are 1/16 inch longer than the replacement bowls. This means that when you stack the bowls, the replacement bowls fit easily within the older bowls, while in reverse they do not sit as well. The reason I have had to buy two replacements is that the rims are very susceptible to chipping. These bowls get a lot of use because they are perfect for cereal or desserts. In any case, Amazon's price at $6.95 including the 4 for 3 promotion and super saver shipping, matches the price from Dansk.
