I must agree with my Danish friend in Minnesota, this is a wonderful cd. Musica Ficta's performances are consistently enchanting and beautiful. The mostly Romantic and post-Romantic repetoire (by Hartmann, Nielsen and others) is consistently melodic and engaging. There is a magic to this recording that makes it truly special. This makes a wonderful addition to your holiday music collection, but it was quite lovely when I first listened to it in September.

The best available disc of Danish Christmas music, December 29, 1998

For years I have been looking to replace my worn record of Trinitatis church choir's recording of Danish Christmas hymns. This disc contains not only Danish Christmas hymns and songs, but also other winter songs, such as 'I sne står urt og busk i skjul' and 'Spurven sidder stumt bag kvist'. The sixteen person choir sings a capella. The arrangements are both traditional, and new and innovative. Many songs have soaring descants. The choir sings impeccably. A very beautiful recording.
