4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy
I bought this set to work out with while toning at home. I am a member of a gym and just wanted something that I could handle easily at home. I'm very pleased with the purchase. The plates are easy to change, well labeled, color coordinated and the bars are cushioned. The set also comes with an exercise chart which gives some baisc exercises for the muscle groups...

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid - Needs a key
The days of using a key to change your dumbell weights are over. The new method is using a spinning nut that you turn tight or turn loose with your hands. Keys are just a waste of time and if you loose the key or if the key bends then the weights are useless. Look for dumbbells that have a spinning nut instead.

I bought this set to work out with while toning at home. I am a member of a gym and just wanted something that I could handle easily at home. I'm very pleased with the purchase. The plates are easy to change, well labeled, color coordinated and the bars are cushioned. The set also comes with an exercise chart which gives some baisc exercises for the muscle groups (arms, legs, abs, back etc) and a few simple common sense tips on staying fit and healthy. The only disappointment is that the plates are a bit wobbly, but it's not a major disturbance. I really recomend this set, especially for beginers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun to use., September 15, 2005

I bought these because I was looking for free weights and they showed up in my gold box. I'm glad I did. The padded bars are very comfortable and it is very easy to change the weights. The weights are a little wobbly, but it doesn't bother me at all. The packaging is more problematic as some of the weights are not wrapped in plastic and the styrofoam shipping material seems to have fused with the coating on the weights and had to be claened off. However, that same coating makes the weights very quiet to use, despite any wobbliness.

The exercise chart that comes with the set is handy for a basic routine, but some of the exercises will require a bench. Overall, a good value.

... was very very good. These dumbells provide so many different options. And everything that is stated in the description...the easy snap, nice, soft grip, and the easy to handle weight plates...all true!

This dumbbell set is an overall good value for the price. The set lets you easily slip on variously sized weights so that you have a lot of flexibility with the set as far as getting the weights that you want. The hand grips also have a nice soft padding so I've found that I don't need to use weight gloves. [...] The plates do tend to wobble a bit since the clips don't keep them really tight, but it hasn't been too bad. The only other negative is that I've found that it is a bit distracting to have to shift between plates if I'm using a workout DVD that calls for a lot of different weights. I have to hit pause a lot so that I can change my weights around. Otherwise, I've been happy with this purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Danskin 5-in-1 Dumbbell Set, February 24, 2006

This set is very user friendly. The bars can be used alone for beginners, and then 1lb. weights can be added as the user progresses. It is very easy to change out the weights, and the weights are securely attached to the bar. I would recommend this set to anyone, from beginner to experienced strength trainer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great dumbbell set, January 30, 2006
This review is from: Danskin 5-in-1 Dumbbell Set (Sports)
I love this set! It is perfect for use with workout DVDs as long as you remember to pause the video for a second while you add/remove weights. Very easy to use! I didn't notice any of the "jiggling" of weights like other reviewers experienced. Great product, I'd recommend it to anyone! :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Weights work fine, but the packaging was lousy, March 22, 2006
This review is from: Danskin 5-in-1 Dumbbell Set (Sports)
The weights are fine- easy to use. They do wobble a bit, like other people said, but it's not really an issue for me.

The "poster" is small and less helpful than most free websites. Like another review said, the styrofoam in the packaging sticks to the coating of the weights and it takes quite a while to clean it off.

The weights themselves are fine, though.

The set is fine for me for most exercises. You may want to order two additional large plates for more heavy lifting.

I really like this item. The weights are easy to change quickly. There was some white styrofoam stuck to the weights but it was cleaned off easily. If you do hi-rep workouts with light weights, this dumbell set is a great buy!

The product was great, thou when I took it out of the package it had some white styrofoam stuck on the weights that I am still unable to remove.
