5.0 out of 5 stars works great & has enough cushion
I like this mat, it is soft, prevents you from slipping, and is thick enough to allow knee workouts on a hardwood floor. Good choice!

2.0 out of 5 stars I've seen better
The mat is okay, but I've seen better ones out there. I wish I knew before I bought it that it does not have velcro straps to hold the mat closed....instead it has this loose piece that you're supposed to carry around to put on the mat after you roll it up to keep it closed. That's a pain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for floor exercises!, January 27, 2007

I have hardwood floors and this is an absolute MUST for doing any floor toning exercises (sit-ups, thigh toners, push-ups, etc)

It is the perfect amount of cushion, without being too cushy, so it is easy to move around on without injury.

Great for yoga, as well, particularly positions that leave you sitting for a while and lead to pain in the tailbone area. It's hard to meditate when your rear hurts, so this takes care of that! Most yoga mats are only about half as thick as this mat. Also, it's as easy or easier to roll up than most yoga mats because of the thickness.

Like yoga mats, to keep the curl away from the ends, just roll it in the opposite direction every time you use it and it will eventually stop curling on the ends. This is the case with every exercise mat and believe me, I've owned many over the years.

A great product at a great price and I would buy it again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, cushy mat, March 2, 2006

The mat is just thick enough to support bad knees. Beautiful color and no "plastic" or strange smell from it, as in other mat purchases I have made. Very happy with.

I love this mat. It allows me to exercise without slipping and gives just the right support. Any thicker and it would be to cushy for certain positions, any thinner and it wouldnt give the right support on the hardwood floor. Lays out nice and flat and rolls up nice and smooth. I even like the strap it comes with that holds it all together. Sometimes I lay a towel on it and roll that up too, so I don't have to carry anything extra when I take a class outside my home. It works great. I would reccomend it.

This mat is of good construction and provides excellent cushioning. I would have rated it 5 stars if it were about 5-6" longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Product, November 14, 2006

The mat is very cushiony and comes with a carrying strap so it's convenient to take places. It does still move on my hardwood floor though, so I had to buy a roll of that rubbery stuff to put under it to give it traction, and that worked well. I'd recommend this mat, especially for those of us in the 40+ age group who do vigorous exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best yoga mat that won't break the bank, March 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i take yoga classes and my instructor could not stop complimenting on this super soft cushion that i have for a mat. it is comfortable, non-slippery, and comes in different colors (i have the teal one and this other girl has the pink one). thank you, danskin, for thinking of us who are extra sensitive to hard surfaces. doing all those strange positions is so much easier now and it is only about ten dollar more than the average, (cheap) mats out there. it also brings the sling (shoe-lace) to carry it. get it from amazon and you get free shipping!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for floor exercises, but be aware this is NOT a yoga mat, October 25, 2009
This review is from: Danskin Deluxe Fitness Mat (Sports)
I have had a Nike Yoga Mat for years, it was $49.99. Now I wanted a new one, I was glad the price went down to $25.00. Then I read some reviews that the newer model is not nearly as good as the old model. So I decided to try a different brand. I found this Danskin Deluxe Fitness Mat at Scheels. It looked pretty descent. It works great when I do situps, crunches, and push ups, i.e. anything as long as you don't stand on it. It really sucks as a Yoga mat. Because it is so thick and so soft it is hard to hold your pose. I still give it four stars because it is good for what it is meant for. Just be aware that this is not a Yoga Mat.

Nice closed cell foam mat. It could be a little wider but a minor complaint. Doesn't smell bad like some mats I have encountered. Just the right level of padding for a hard surface.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very similar to Gold's Gym Fitness and Yoga Mat, July 11, 2010

I purchased this mat on Amazon and later discovered the Gold's Gym Fitness and Yoga Mat at Walmart for $10 cheaper. They look exactly the same, right down to the carrying strap. I noticed that Walmart carries a lot of Danskin products, so if I had to take a guess, I would venture to say that it's the same product but with different brand names stamped on them. If money is a deciding factor over brand name, I would save the $10 and go for the Gold's Gym version. Otherwise, it's a great mat. No funky odors and adequate cushioning. However, my Danskin mat does not have the Danskin logo on the carrying strap as displayed in the Amazon photo. The manufacturer is probably using the same strap on the Gold's Gym and Danskin products now.
