Best Arch Support in the World, but Beware of Tripping,
By lawyerwhocooks "lawyerwhocooks" (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dansko Women's Professional Pull-Up Clog (Apparel)
Dansko shoes, particularly the professional clogs (worn by all the nurses in my local hospital ICU, by the way) have the BEST arch support in the world, in my opinion. I have Dansko shoes in four colors, plus several different styles. I wear a size "39" (European sizing), which is somewhere between a woman's 8 1/2 and 9. The only drawback (other than the fact that they aren't very sexy) is that the thick rubber sole (which helps give the shoe the arch it needs) tends to cause me to trip and sometimes I almost twist my ankle on hardwood or tile, so be aware of this possible problem if you order a pair. As noted above, I own a lot of Dansko shoes, so don't let this problem stop you from trying a pair.
If you have plantar fasciitis or a very high arch that tends to "fall" or otherwise hurt, try Dansko, Merrell and Nike's Shox (especially the Navina model). Recommended!

FANTASTIC!!!,

This is my first pair of Dansko shoes and I'm... absolutely delighted. It delivered everything that it is known for - comfort, fit, versatility and umm..yes, it looks professional too. I am in health care and walk on several different turfs in one day - home, school, office, hospital, outdoors in the snow and sleet.....These shoes glide through it all!
They do tend to run a little roomy which was great for me as I prefer wide sizes. One suggestion, wear them for increasing periods of time daily until you feel comfortable enough to wear them all day. When I first tried them, they felt a bit rigid and inflexible especialy in the sole, after a week I didn't even notice it. I bought them in a local store simply because I wasn't sure of the fit but Amazon definitely seems to have a much better price. Now that I'm looking into some Mary Jane styles by Dansko for spring, I know where to buy them next. Can't wait!

The leather finish on these shoes seems to scuff faster than what I've had in the past (oiled leather). Besides that, these clogs are the comfortable shoes I've come to depend on.

Best Shoe Made For People On Their Feet All Day,
This review is from: Dansko Women's Professional Pull-Up Clog (Apparel)
Dansko shoes are the best shoe for people that are on their feet for hours. I am a missionary RN and I run medical clinics in the most remote places in the South Pacific. I am on my feet running all day with my line of work. Some of the conditions can be deplorable and yet my Danskos hold up for years and keep me focused on my patients rather than my sore feet. I cannot recommend my shoes to most of the people I care for because often they cannot afford shoes let alone specialized Danskos, but when I am state side and I meet waitresses, and others on their feet I am quick to tell them, "Get a pair and see if they don't change your life."
The Dansko Professional Cabrio Clog pull up is a bit different from the original professional clog, as it seems to be softer and have more cushion in the heel as well as propels the foot forward better when you walk. You can actually push in the heel with your thumb nail and it will give some, the other is solid and won't give, makes for a harder, heavier shoe. The pull up is a softer, kinder shoe with all the support benefits from a Dansko. It fits the same though as the other professionals true to size. Hope this helps. Dansko is worth the money and always looks good and professional, yet it doesn't scream "Fancy-Rich American" when there are those you might serve who have not.

I've been looking for a comfortable shoe since my husbands accident. I spend a lot of time at the hospital. The shoes I had were killing my feet and legs. I tried other brands and they were either to small or to big and returned them. I read several reviews on Dansko Professinal Leather Clogs. I decided to ordered them. They fit great. I wear them all day long, my feet and legs do not hurt when I get home at night. They cost more, but were well worth the price.

I was looking for a new pair of shoes that were versatile enough to wear with both pants and dresses and had heard about the comfort of Dansko shoes so decided to give a pair a try. They are just as comfortable as the product description said they would be. I wore them shopping all day and they were very comfortable and easy to walk in. I know these are shoes that I will wear for years to come.

This is my second pair of Dansko shoes and I love them! They fit well, feel good on your feet and my legs and back do not hurt after hours of being on my feet. The fact they have good arch support is very important and a roomy toe box without looking bulky. I wear them with jeans and dress pants and never worry that they're out of place. When you walk, they do not make a "clog" sound, they are quiet. The soles wear well. I will buy more and recommend them to all!

I just received my pull-up clogs and I wore them to a holiday art market and walked around for hours in complete comfort! This is my second pair of Danksos and I LOVE them! I bought the pull-up leather because according to the Dansko outlet site [...] "Pull-up (leather) is the perfect choice for working environments. Scuffs and scratches can be 'pulled' out by redistributing oil or wax with your fingertips, making this a work-friendly leather." Beat that! Easy care, I love these shoes!
Unlike some other reviews I had no issues with tripping or arch problems, just shoes you forget that you're wearing. I have osteoarthritis in my knees and my rheumatologist recommended Danskos. And I received the shoes in record time (thanks Amazon for the free-for-students Amazon Prime!) And a GREAT price too! I wear a 8.5 in most shoes, sometimes a 9 and bought a 39 -- fit wonderfully!

Great shoe. But their size guides run small. As an 8 1/2 shoe size, I should have had a loose fit with a 39. I can't wear socks or I'm in pain, I should've gotten a 40. Buy one size up (at least)!

High Hopes Dashed,

I'd heard that Danskos were fabulously comfortable, so with a full-time on-my-feet job and volunteering at a hospital looming, I invested in a pair. Brand new, tried them on in the store, gave my feet plenty of time to break them in... and a month later they're still painful. I'm particularly puzzled because the arch support felt like it was in the perfect place (which is why I bought the Danskos I was trying on over the Sanitas, which felt all wrong), but at one point, I was just walking normally and suddenly that section of my foot was enveloped in crushing pain; additionally, my left foot is wider than my right, so that's where I tend to expect trouble, but it was the bridge of my right foot that felt tender and bruised after a mere four hours in this pair of shoes.
Danskos seem to work really well for some people and not at all well for others. I'm just disappointed that I'm in the minority--and out a considerable chunk of change. |
