Play "God of War" first. If you love it, you will like this one too!,

This review is from: Dante's Inferno (Video Game)
Despite being a 24 year-old female, I enjoy playing good action adventure games on PSP whenever I am bored (on a stationary bike, on a bus, on a plane etc). After reading rave reviews on "God of War: Chains of Olympus" I got it and absolutely loved it. After hearing through the grapevine that Dante's Inferno is very similar to GOW, I just had to buy it as well. Here are my 2 cents after beating the game.
I'll start with the "bad", which didn't make me think this game was worthy of 5 stars: 1. It is indeed a full-on clone of GOW and 2.it is equally short. Everything from the concept of the game (yes, story lines are different but they are very similar at the same time) to controls and action moves is pretty much copied from GOW. I am no expert in videogaming at all, but it didn't take me that long to beat the game, so I imagine someone with more experience will get through with it in less than 10 hours of gametime. As someone said in their review, good games should last you over 30 hours to be worth every penny. Nonetheless, it is an excellent game. Controls are smooth and intuitive (although it is a little annoying that you can't change camera angle at all); Dante's moves are full of fierce grace and the Matrix-like slo-mo effect during battle sequences actually looks very cool. Backdrops are insanely detailed and and full of quite disturbing, but altogether stunning imagery; cut scenes are gorgeous and very very well-made (light years ahead of, say Daxter or Tomb Raider, and actually superior to GOW's as well). Altogether, I would recommend this game to a GOW fan or to anyone who wants a rather mindless but very well crafted entertainment. A word of warning though: this game has a "MATURE" rating for a good reason. It is quite gory and is also full of quite blatant sexual innuendo (which is actually more funny than anything).

God of War meets... a different storyline!,

I picked up Dante's Inferno earlier in the week. Very good game. It's almost exactly like God of War except with a different storyline. Just as bloody, just as much destruction and a story of redemption. There's a few differences (mainly more nudity than GOW), but overall, a very good game. My only complaint has been a few glitches during the cutscenes, not enough to turn anyone off though. My advice? Pick this one up. Rent it first if you want to get a feel for the game, but it's good. Very fun and you can't get better stress relief than smashing through ten demons.

I just got this game last week. I played for couple hours and love it!!! The graphic is very good (for PSP wise) and story line is not bad. The only thing is my right thumb gets tired all the time. It's not a bad game if you love God of War. The control is easy, so you should be able to pickup in few seconds.

This game reminds me of God of War, which is never a bad thing. I love the game and I am addicted to it already. It's definitely one of those games you could play over and over. Not one time and that's it.

OK, I am not an expert gamer, and as a 28 year-old female without too much background in gaming, I decided to get a PSP to pass the time. I normally play those kiddie-friendly PSP games (e.g. LocoRoco, Katamari, Little Big Planet - you get my idea), but then one day I decided to get some hack & slash game for a change. I didn't want to jump into the most complicated one, and I wanted to get something that doesn't have a long playing time. I was contemplating on GOW or Dante's. Since my husband was still playing his GOW, I decided to get Dante's Inferno. I wasn't disappointed.
I tried the classic level first - as this is the easiest level, and the tutorials were great - for a first-timer on this type of game I was able to get used to the controls. Eventually I got hooked and played the game to the end, despite a lot of curses shouted because this game seems to have a lot of climb, jump and grab, and also falling floors from which I tend to die more often than with the boss fights, lol... I admit the storyline and controls are somewhat very similar to GOW, but this is still worth playing. From here at least I know I am able to move forward with more hack & slash adventures with my PSP.

Dantes Medieval Vision of HELL,
By

Have you ever wondered what hell might look like? Dante's Inferno offers an incredibly vivid and detailed hypothesis. The game is based on the 14th-century Italian poem by Dante Alighieri, but Dante never could have imagined a hell this visually captivating. The walls themselves crawl with the bodies of the damned, other lost souls intermitently rain from the sky burning in torturous flames. In the distance, great columns of souls can be seen marching along monolithic causeways. The air is acrid with smoke and charred flesh, pierced by screams, fitful sparks and motes of ash. Each of the nine circles is here, along with the river Acheron and Limbo, and each setting is distinctive and fiendishly impressive. Through it all Vergil is your guide, just as in the poem.
The gameplay is fluid and satisfying, with Dante boasting an array of combos with either his scythe, stolen from Death himself, or his cross that Beatrice gave to him. There are a variety of trinkets to collect - from the 30 pieces of silver received in ramsom by Judas to dozens of relics that Dante can equip to enhance his abilities. Dante attempts to rescue his lover Beatrice from the clutches of the Damned.along the way, Dante encounters many Lost Souls from various historical and mythological points in history, the player's interaction with these characters is not merely discourse, however, as Dante holds the power to either absolve these Lost Souls of the sins which condemned them to Hell, or hand down the ultimate Punishment instead. I consider this to be a brilliant mechanic that serves to immerse the player in a very personal manner, as it tends to compel the player to actually reflect on his/her own views of sin and punishment before deciding a Lost Soul's ultimate fate. Very well-executed. I had very high hopes for this title, but it has far exceeded even those. This game is one of the best I have ever played.Do your self a favor and BUY DANTE'S INFERNO!!

First of all it is similar to god of war but its still a fun game so i don't wanna hear people compline about, its a completely different story. Okay we got that out of the way, Fun game, fast action, time killer with a good story.
I read the entire divine comedy in the 11 grade, and i first go the game for my old xbox. My first reaction was "THEY BUTCHERED THE ENTIRE THING UP". I still played it and it was fun but know that it is noting like the book;however, Danta did fight in the Battle of Campaldino. It a very fun game for the psp. This game is the reason i got the psp, i sold my xbox last year and got a psp with this game last week.

after reading lots of mixed reviews, so what if it plays like 'god of war' or 'devil may cry'? its a good game. the story follows dante's divine comedy. easy game play and controls. decent graphics, great cut scenes and music. i like the notion that you can pick a 'path' as it were. good replay value. i found it enthralling. but i dug the divine comedies and continue to. as well as other dark, heaven vs hell, demon type material. books to games. its worth the money.
