Dragged Me Through Hell. . .,

I was looking forward to this score -- Garry Schyman's score for Bioshock was very good -- but unfortunately it didn't do much for me. It's certainly competent music, never unpleasant (except when it's trying to be), but it has the same problem that many video game scores have: there's no development to the music, no flow. This score basically has two settings: loud epic choral action, and loud unnerving horror. A third if you count the occasional mixture of the two. It starts that way, and goes on that way until the last three cues, a far too short total of four minutes of climax and dénouement after about eighty minutes of nonstop loud action horror. If that's your cup of tea, you'll probably love this music. For me, the album was much too long (half the length would have been more than sufficient) with too little variety to sustain my interest. Not a score I'll be revisiting often.

i appreciate some labels not interested in doing a limited press cd release but why not release it digitally in flac or apple lossless so the quality is high for those that want it?
