Should have been more included here, October 17, 2005
This review is from: Danzig - Archive De La Morte (DVD)
A Danzig DVD compiling a bunch of the former Misfits and Samhain frontman's videos has always been on the wishlist of many, but Archive De La Morte sadly comes up short. Besides the videos compiled here, there are no other extras, which for Danzig fans, is a crying shame. The videos that are here include three different versions of "Dirty Black Summer", two versions each of "How the Gods Kill" and "Bodies", three versions of "It's Coming Down", an unreleased video for the beautiful "Sistinas", and the hit live cut of "Mother". However, there's nothing else here after that, and anything, whether it be perhaps a "making of" for one or two of the videos, or an interview with Glenn himself discussing the alternate takes of the videos, and they would have been more than welcome here. Archive De La Morte is without a doubt worth checking out for Danzig fans and worth picking up for hardcore fans, but regardless you'll be left wanting more.

This review is from: Danzig - Archive De La Morte (DVD)
This DVD is great, it offers the video from Danzig's own archive at a very low price. Some of the unreleased videos aren't good and you can tell why they were not released. Nonetheless at a low price no one has any excuse for not picking this up. The "Dirty Black Summer" is video is greenish- black and white version of the band playing and Glen walking around. "How The Gods Kill" is video of the band playing (Glen without a mic) in a spooky/romantic setting with the character from the CD cover, plus some cool wavey effects. The video for "Mother" is a "live" offering, while "It's Coming Down" is the complete opposite. Rumor has it that Jonathan Reiss a S&M director made it so "raw" (that's a euthanism- so no one gets in trouble) that Rick Rubin destroyed copies of it. All the "crazy" and "disgusting" stuff you've seen before ain't nothing until you see it with your own eyes.-- I warned you, now buy it.
The setlist:
1) Dirty Black Summer Directed by Anton Corbijn- This is a shot in greenish/black film with Glenn walking around and the band playing.
2) Dirty Black Summer (Unedited Performance I)Directed by Anton Corbijn- This one is in color with scenes from the greenish/black film behind JUST Glenn singing.
3) Dirty Black Summer (Unedited Performance II)Directed by Anton Corbijn-This one is in color with scenes from the greenish/black film behind the BAND playing.
4) How the Gods Kill (R Version)-This is the same video put out with the How the Gods Kill Box Set. Artsy cathedral setting with two hot girls and an alive HTGK art.
5) How the Gods Kill (Unedited Performance)-Much like the video above, but less refined with shakey camera (hence the name- Unedited).
6) Sistinas (Never Before Released- This different live clips spliced together with the music played over it.
7) Bodies (Never Before Released I)Directed by Glenn Danzig- One camera of the band in a rehearsal type setting.
8) Bodies (Never Before Released II)Directed by Glenn Danzig- Same thing, but a slightly different version.
9) Mother 93' (Live)- This is NOT live, it's series of live shots with the studio version of Mother played over it.
10) It's Coming Down (MTV Version) Directed by Jonathan Reiss- A calm video in black and white with the band playing in a basement/dugeon setting.
11) It's Coming Down (Box R Version) Directed by Jonathan Reiss- Same video as above, but with some agressive acts
12) It's Coming Down (Totally Uncensored Version) Directed by Jonathan Reiss- You'll have to see it, brutal.
