This review is from: Dao De Jing: a New-Millennium Translation (Paperback)
Dao De Jing: A New-Millennium Translation is presented for a literate western readership in a new English translation offered by David H. Li Ph.D., a native Chinese speaker and fluent master of English for more than 65 years, of the eternal Chinese classic text by Lao Tzu. This impressive and scholarly offering provides much more than simply a straightforward rendition of the original text; it features extensive footnotes, comparisons with Sun Tzu's famous "Art of War" and "The Analects" by Confucius. A bibliography, index, and analysis of rhymed passages help enhance this authoritative and comprehensive look at a traditional classic of Chinese philosophy. Dao De Jing is very highly recommended for students of the philosophy and teachings of Lao Tzu, would prove to be a unique and welcome addition to any academic reference collection.

This review is from: Dao De Jing: a New-Millennium Translation (Paperback)
This English translation is a masterpiece to Western readers. It is a unique new-millennium text for the rhymed sentences are interlinear structured in words, number of words and position as the original Chinese text. Dr Li, a respected academia, incorporated comparison in Confucius Analects, Sun Tzu's Art of War, I Ching and Greek concepts. It is a beautiful addition to your personal library because he listed a detail bibliography of English translation on this popular Chinese classic.
However, this book does not include the latest discovery of the bamboo stripe edition from an ancient tomb from Kuo Dian. Hope to read his update edition soon. |
