When Alon, Daphnes beloved husband, dies in a suicide bombing, she thinks her life is over. All she wants is to join him wherever he is. But then she decides to proceed with their original plan and relocates to an isolated barn they chose together in rural Pennsylvania. During four magnificent seasons Daphnes grief transforms into acceptance and then into a new-found happiness. She is slowly moving away from the huge shadow Alon has cast over her, learning to breathe on her own. As time goes by, she finds out that their marriage was not all she believed it to be. She grows and heals, finds her inner voice and strength, and becomes whole again in ways that were not possible while Alon was alive.
