This review is from: I Dare You to Change! (Christian Life Practice) (Hardcover)

A forty-year-old woman who gets hit by a bus, is rushed to the hospital, and dies on the operating table. She meets God and He tells her, "Don't worry, you're not going to die right now. I still have a purpose for you, and I'm giving you forty more years."

Next thing you know, she wakes up in the recovery room, thrilled to be alive. Later she thinks, "If I have forty more year, I want to make sure I look GREAT."

So after she's headed from the bus accident, she immediately talks to a plastic surgeon and signs up for all kinds of work - a nip here, a tuck there. Soon, she's reworked from head to toe. After surgery, she continues her makeover with a dark tan, a new hairstyle, and a whole new wardrobe.

Her makeover complete, she's walking across the street and -bam!-she gets hit by a bus again, but this time she really dies. Now she's standing before God, angry, and she says, "God, what happened? You told me I had forty more years!" And God looks at her and say, "I'm sorry...I didn't recognize you."

It's so easy for us to think we're changing our lives when we change things on the outside. We believe we can get results without putting forth effort, and without the basic ingredients of perseverance, fortitude, and courage. We think that a new job, a new city, a new haircut will make everything better. But the real change is an inside job. It starts with our attitude, our efforts, and our energy. It takes intention and action on a daily basis.

Do you feel like you're in the same rut, believing that you are just the way you are. You can't change. You're always going to be like this? Do you really want to change?

Then I Dare You To Change by Bil Cornelius is just the motivation book you will need to being to make daily steps to work towards discovering the difference between dreaming of a better life and actually living it. Some of the areas Bil deals with in the book are:

* Breaking Your Cycles of Failure

* Discovering Your Calling and Go Big!

* Adopt a New Attitude!

* Develop a Plan and a Team!

* Act Decisively!

* Sustain Success!

I received this book compliments of Sanctified Together for my honest review and what a perfect gift for anyone looking to finally make a change in their life just before the new year begins. This one really hit home for both me and my husband who have been struggling with going around the same mountain in our personal and business lives and expecting different results. Now we have the processes to help us finally get the results we are looking for. This one rates a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's that simple, September 4, 2010
This review is from: I Dare You to Change! (Christian Life Practice) (Hardcover)
Pastor Bil has managed to take what some people believe to be complicated and made it simple. His writing is easy and the concepts are simple, but the message is powerful: you CAN change. It's hard not to get caught up in his energy and enthusiasm, so I recommend this book to anyone who has felt stuck and unable to get off the couch and do something meaningful in their lives.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pastor Bil's Muddled Mass of Misinformation, April 11, 2011
This review is from: I Dare You to Change! (Christian Life Practice) (Hardcover)
Pastor Bil is a national sales manager for the made up religion of Christianity. He writes this profoundly simply, childish motivational book that has been written and re-written by the likes of Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, etc., for more than twenty years. All of these simpleton, motivational books discuss four main topics. Always.
1)Be postitive. Have a positive orientation to your life and work.
2)Be happy, friendly, and engaged in your life and work, not distant or grumpy.
3)Forget about the past; be present and future oriented.
4)Develop concise, attainable objectives, and goals.
This pablum has made Robbins and Chopra multi-millionaires; perhaps, Pastor Bil can cash in too.
Intertwined in his motivational blather he constantly refers to the made up Hebrew story of Gideon and an angel and their ludicrous interactions.
Example: In the story, Gideon and his small, brave band must fight 135,000 Midianites. Anyone who knows anything about ancient archeology knows that Midianites were a Canaanite sub-tribe, and only had a total population of about 70,000 in the 7th century B.C.E. when this story was invented and exaggerated; something Hebrew religious writers did for countless centuries to mystify and entertain the gullible.

Seems noone ever had the heart or the courage to tell Pastor Bil the Gideon story is just another fantasy story that the Mushite Jews(who believed in angels, Aaronid Jews didn't) told and re-told to advance their made up religion of Judaism.
This motivational book is nothing more and nothing less than a long-winded, junior high-school re-hash of countless other motivational monograms; well-suited for the gullible.
